The seal swells as soon as the cap is off. So remove it just before the insertion. But make sure the decpupling is already installed.

Last night i installed and coded New injectors from RockAuto all Index12, it was my first time ever doing that it took me 2hrs install and Coding with INPA, i cant seem to understand why Dealer quoted me $2,800 or something like that when i ask about it about 6 months ago. The job was easy not much harder than doing coils/plugs. I had misfires on 4 of the cylinders and Rough cold starts and car would shake, 4 of the old injectors were rusty on the tips now car runs really really smooth, this morning i Cold start the car and wow idle is so smooth no rough start at all. So far im very happy with the outcome.

So to all of you that bought the injectors from RockAuto... I just got a set from them, and all look to be index 12. However 2 of them have a specific odor like machining fluid / kerosene stank. Wondering if these 2 are used returns or reman. Seems most reviews show them being on the up and up. But a few people have also found some issues.
On another note, anyone know a reliable source for the INPA software? Not sure if I still have the CD

I would recommend against buying rebuilt ones.
You can download the INPA software from a torrent site.
Any new injector you are going to buy will 99.99% OEM. There are not than many companies that manufacture these parts in the world. Standard, Wells, Airtex(wells), Borgwarner(standard), GP Sorenson(standard) buy from the company that makes the injectors for BMW.

So is the Rockauto injector warrantied for 3 years/36000miles for sure? Their warranty seems to say so.

I think you read my post a bit fast...
He sold 169 of these injectors and he offers lifetime warranty to original owner...

You were suggesting that his positive seller rating was representative of the injectors' quality. I'm just warning you that on eBay, that is never the case. Only a small handful of his reviews were regarding these injectors, and one of them was negative.
I did not see the part about lifetime warranty. If that's the case I would first see what the conditions are for a warranty claim. If it's hassle-free then I would probably get my next set from this place.
I would also ask about what he does to rebuild them and how he updates them to the latest revisions.

Just ordered a set of 6 brand new bmw index 12 injectors with $130 ea with an ebay coupon code which was 10% off. The vendor had 7 avail, and I submitted a best offer for all 6. He/she accepted with no questions. So, just make sure you find brand new ones with the newest index, and these happened to be much cheaper than other internet shops.

Probably because if you buy them from bmw parts it is about 1500 for 6
then add the labor.
I don't understand how they are so cheap on rock auto. Every where else is 240ish a injector

Because thus far everyone has been buying them from BMW wholesale parts. Rock Auto is the first place getting them from another supplier. (Not counting that ebay nonsense)
I think rock autos are fine BTW. I use them now. I take back my previous statements

Wow, rockauto is literally half the price. Just seems so ridiculously low... I mean, even if they were 20% cheaper people would still be very tempted so if they are as good as oem BMW why sell them for so cheap instead of something like 20% or 25% cheaper? More opinions please!

I've been looking and reading heavily on the Rockauto ones as well and it seems like great reviews across the board. I need 8 injectors, so after a 5% online coupon it'd be like $905 shipped.
What I've considered doing is that I've found two different eBay sellers who have 261-11 injectors (5 from one, 3 from another) who are under $40 each, then I'd need new black gaskets at the tip ($3 each and I wonder what keeps them from expanding like everyone is taking about it they're coming in raw packaging) and then the decouplers ($9 each and I assume I need one for each injector and I'm still confused if I need them to remove the injectors, to install them or why they can't be reused). I'm leaning towards the used ones for cost reasons because even $300 for used -11's is still great compared to $900 for -12's...if the 11's give me issues, I could always return them. eBay is just a portal, so let's not blame eBay, it's bad sellers...but both these sellers have good feedback.

you can have any index mixed as long as they are all under 10. If over, you have to have all above ten. At least that's what I heard. So to be in the safest side, just get the newest ones 10 or above all six of them. I also heard that there was/were some upgrade to this type of injector since the 10.

Hey guys, my injectors time came... and here is what I found:
55 USD/pc on Aliexpress. True, they seem to be index 9. But is that a big deal? The price is incredible. Has anyone tried?

Yes, I did.
They claimed they are new ones but they were used.
I opened a dispute and got my money back and the seller didn't even try to answer.
btw. I got used injectors also from Rockauto. I sent them back and they replaced them with new ones. And I'm not the only one who got used injectors from there. I can't understand how they can send their customers that kind of crap.
