Just got a 2008 535i - N54Tech.com

Got it 2 weeks ago. its an '08 535i Monaco Blue with Natural Brown Interior with Sport Pack, Navi, Sport Trans, Comfort Seats and it looks like it has 20% tint all around.

Car drives great (knock on wood) pulls all the way to redline in all gears without a hiccup.

Changed the coils and the Vanos solenoids and got an oil change.

I have the valve cover gasket, waiting on the spark plugs so it all can be done at the same time.

Got the BMWhat App with the device, coded a few things, like digital speedometer, no seat belt chime, etc... Ran the trouble codes, had a bunch pop up but after i cleared them, only 2 came back, the tire pressure monitoring system and the condensation sensor. So nothing important.

Ordered the Dual Intake and JB4, should be here this week.

Friend got OEM m6 wheels that i am gonna look at this weekend. I wasn't even planning on modifying the car as it's a daily beater but i have a problem... i should see a doctor.

edit: But i am probably gonna continue to upgrade it as most of the upgrades are very reasonably priced for a BMW.

I want a front mount, charge pipe with an HKS blow-off, ***. What do you think that will give me in terms of power without e85 or meth?

i really like the blow off sound, but i dont know if it's a good idea to get on on this car,

is a diverter valve that recirculates better than the one that vents into the atmosphere?

I recently picked up a FMIC, CP and DVs to go with a Cobb tune, but i have not installed them yet. What i learned from the forums is the BOVs make noisnoise, so if you like that then go for a BOV. The DV is what the engine currently has so most seem to believe that is the way to go.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting a senior forum member who has an upgraded FMIC, CP and even after market turbos to go with his custom cobb tune. He also has an 08 like you but he said the OEM DVs have worked well for him and he didn't see a need to modify. His car has over 100k miles so tough to argue, he even ran meth ar one point.

I am now rethinking if i should sell my DVs

when i had a turbo audi, it was a consensus on the audi forum that blow off valves make the car run richer or something like that and it needed a diverter valve that will recirculate the air.

On this platform it just a matter of taste, no real performance difference. I have the forge dv's and they are slightly louder than stock. It's low pitched whoosh and it's not often I hear it. Haven't tried it but they can vent to atmosphere as well.

i just want to have 400whp and wtq and i will be happy... for a bit

i am still surprised the mods are so cheap for this motor.

I had 400 WHP on my previous 5 series. It took Full Bolt ons with no meth and a few gallons of e85 to consistently do that but she got there.

You will love the ride.

I hit 400 awhp this last Tuesday with only a dci and tune, running 100% e85 (e70 winter blend too)

I see you found the N54 addicts page Seven. Yes the DV's recirculate the charged air into the intake vs letting it vent into the atmosphere. I have the stock DV's on my setup and they work fine with my current map which runs 18-19 psi consistently. If you have a E85 station near you just put in 5 gal of E85 with the JB4 and DCI's, you should be pretty much at 400 whp.

I have a 335 with upgraded FMIC, CP (the stockers tend to blow) and Cobb tune. No DCIs...there have been people showing and actual decrease in power from them. The stock set up w/ a panel filter is actually pretty efficient.

Also, a Cobb AP with a pro tune from Wedge is gonna be a beast. You can pick up an AP $400 these days....GL, OP. Love the 535...a classy, sleeper.

i got a few maintenance things i wanna do first, the valve cover gasket is leaking and it needs the new plugs.

Then it's on! But not that crazy, i am looking to buy a 997 GT3 sometime soon... maybe an R8 if i find one for a good deal.
