Default Staggered wheel tire question - 10-22-2017, 06:10 PM

I have a 2008 335xi with the stock wheels and tire size. 18x8 front and 18x8.5 on the rear. My question is can I get away with a 9" wide rear wheel with the same tire from the 8.5" wide wheel? I just bought new tires and was going to keep the stock wheels but now I want to change wheels and the set I like are 18x8 and 18x9. I've read about the "rolling diameter" being an important issue with the all wheel drive. Any info would be appreciated.

Probably, though the rear tires will be stretched a little (like a "stanced" look). And your new rims will be less protected around the lip.
But it will not affect the rolling diameter of the tire significantly. that is just a function of tire width and aspect ratio.
