Default Your Experience with an Inlet Kit - 01-09-2016, 10:01 AM

As most of us know, we now have a few different choices of these kits as well as a price range of about $200-$1500. I'd like to ask those of you who have purchased a kit, what your honest review would be of it.

This is not a thread about who's better or worse because quite frankly I'm sick of seeing guys bashing each other on here and acting but the least bit professional.

All I'm asking is if you have purchased a kit, installed it, and have ran it, what you thought about the results. Dyno sheets are an optional plus.

Purchased a Precision Raceworks inlet kit.
http://www.precisionraceworks.com/
("hot side" -single silicone piece from air filter to turbo inlet)

Had someone else(who had already done a few) install for about $300.

Louder noise from turbos(whine) and Tial BOV (whoosh) is louder.
The stock turbos spool up faster.
Car is much quicker after than before.
No heat issues, but I do have Cobb FMIC.
Stock IC might not be enough to keep IAT in check.

No dyno or 1/4 mile times, sorry.

Note: my JB4 is currently removed for repair and I'm running stock flash.(and stock boost)
Car is still much faster than stock due to fast spooling.

I too installed precision racewerks on my car. I was one of the first to get it installed. Kit was just getting released so I have the original unit. Fit like a glove for being one of the first to be released. I installed them same time I did my turbos.

Louder spool
Louder bov sound (tial)
Boost is stronger top end, but might be because of the turbos 😁
Looks sexy in the engine bay

I've always wondered if the car would be drivable on stock boost with upgraded inlets...if I were to sell the car, no way I'm paying labour to have them removed. So no overboost issues or otherwise with stock map?

Did RB inlets. Stock turbos. I have noticed...

Louder BOV
Holding 20-21psi almost all the way to redline

I haven't noticed a change in spool up.

I purchased the TFT inlet kit and had them installed with Pure stage 2. The inlet kit is top notch in quality. I like this kit because it comes with an upper and lower chargepipe along with the coolant tank that needs to be moved to the drivers side. This kit performs very well and fitment was spot on.
I recently got the inlets and chargepipes powder coated gloss black. The raw metal look is nice but I prefer a cleaner/stealthier engine bay look.

RB inlets + RB turbos. I had turbos running before inlets on. Inlets bring out the turbos spooling (with factory airbox) when just lightly tapping the throttle from 1800ish on. Then it gets drowned out by the engine. Sounds cool in drivethrus, etc where the sound echos.

Very drivable.
No over boost.
But boy do I miss my JB4.
I have MHD (BMS Version) so I flashed back to stock.
Thought about flashing a built in map, but was having problems connecting to Google Play store.
Decided I'd just leave as stock until I get my JB4 back.
Maybe I'll get used to the reduced horsepower and the increase in HP will be fun.

I have clients with two Wedge Performance cars that are running the TFT inlets. Both cars are running stock frame turbos so the fit is comparable to a stock vehicle. The inlets fit well as does the charge pipe. I've purchased my own set with the charge pipe and Tial BOV for my own car but haven't installed them yet as I am waiting to do it with new turbos. I only want to drop the subframe once.

I also bought the precision raceworks inlets. I originally bought VRSF but asked for a refund, none of their stuff I've bought fits properly.

I've learned that this platform really does not reward you for saving money. It's better to just spend the money and get the "best" the first time around

+1
Great choice the Precision Raceworks inlets!
VRSF can be hit or miss.
I like their *** and wheel spacers.
But PR really wins the inlet contest!

+1 for precision raceworks. I can't rave enough at how available they are to support you via email. Great product too ;-)

I've purchase TFT inlets over the last summer, and I love them, the welds where great, the customer service was the best I've seen. I got a email every Friday until the item shipped on what's the status of my order. They even upgraded me to a polish finish because they where a couple days behind the estimated date. I installed these with the motor in and had no fitment issues.(don't recommend doing it that way) but all I hear now is the turbo spool and the BOV.
