Default Log Review - high AFR after shifts - 02-08-2019, 09:41 AM

Hey,

Have done tons of reading on the forums since installing my JB4, but this is my first log post. Please forgive me if I'm going about this wrong.

Car- 2011 e93 335is
mods: VRSF charge pipe/******* ***, BMS DCI, JB4 map 5 e30 mix (tested with ethanol test kit, 4g e85//11g 93 oct)

new coils/plugs, freshly walnut blasted.

Car will pull like a freight train straight through a gear, but whenever the car shifts, it runs lean and will default to the safety map.

This happens on map 2 on standard pump gas as well.

If I need to get another log with different parameters, please let me know!

Thanks!

Someone else more experienced will chime in I'm sure.

This doesn't appear to be shift related. It was well prior to your shift.

Your IATs clearly spike under load, so the your on the stock FMIC.
I do see what appears to be knock on Ign_1. It drops from 8 to 0.
Immediately following this, your AFR shoots up and stuff starts to cascade.

I can't be sure it's knock, causing the DME to adjust quickly resulting in high AFR.

However, I recommend configuring your JB4 for 6 Cyl logging to better expose knock issues.

I would test in Map 1 (15 PSI w/ BEF), doing a proper run, then testing in Map 2 later.

Logging: 3rd gear pull, 2000 to 7000 RPM, traction off. *Safety First*

I respect that with the e30, you have more knock resistance, still, I recommend to prove to yourself that it's good.

Question: Is the stock boost on the IS 10.5 PSI? I see that Safety Map 4 didn't drop you to 8 PSI.

** EDIT **
Half my info may not be relevant.
I see that in this short log you go from 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th... in 5 seconds...
Get a valid log in a static Map (1 or 2) to troubleshoot.

Thanks CodeSX. I'll get a full more pulls in map 1-2 this evening and report back.

In the meantime, here's a 2nd->3rd gear pull with the same symptoms from ~20 minues ago. I've attached a screengrab of the graph & the log.

Any chance you have a helpful link for enabling timing on cyl 2-6? Trying desperately to find a reference online (to no avail, even with search functions), and don't see an option in JB4 settings to enable... When I enable the parameters on my log graphing, it shows values of 0 for 2-6 cyl.

Like I said, I'm relatively new to this space (but have owned an n54 for ~6 years now!), so your patience is appreciated.

((EDIT)) - full gear pull in 3rd for logging wouldn't be beneficial, as AFR spike really only happens post-shift. Happy to provide full 3rd gear log still, but wanted to point this out.

Thanks!

A couple things:

1) enable 6cyl timing- that’s under user adjustments

2) your IATS are sky high

3) trims max- are you running a BEF (it doesn’t appear so)

4) load the PUMP BEF- that should help with your trims, & AFR.

update w/ new log
335is DCT w/ pump 93, VRSF ******* deepee, 7.5in FMIC, VRSF **, BMS DCI, JB4 map 5.

installed 7.5in FMIC this weekend, huge difference as you can see love the look and the performance so far. once tune adjusted, boost seems to be hitting target (exceeded target mid pull here- wastegate issues?)

ordered an android tablet & BimmerGeeks cable, will add pump BEF next week.

can't do timing on all 6 due to MSD80 DME (confirmed that's my DME w/ INPA, will update with BEF next week)- tried option 7, not logging correctly. I believe this pull was on option 4.

also battling an issue- post shift, fuel trims lock at 25 and cause high AFRs. single gear pulls (as seen here) are fine, but any pull where I shift while staying WOT will fire me into safety map.

any thoughts on these logs or any of the above comments?

may not be the best log after looking.. may have sent the wrong one. will update with another when I'm off work - but this one should be a good start.

Thanks!

Hey not sure if this is the right log, I see trims hit 25 post shift, but the # does delineate a few cells down.

Your LPFP looks very tired, into the 50s only on 93- may want to add an upgraded LPFP to your list.

Letís get the pump BEF loaded & re-evaluate

Here's one where the trims locked post shift. Much longer log.
