Default N55 E SERIES 135 MHD CUSTOM TUNE + JB4 STACK + WMI - 03-19-2019, 10:10 PM

Hi Guys.

We are a performance workshop in South Africa and having been using BMS hardware and JB4 for quite sometime and love the platform.

We are recently tapping into the MHD tuning side and although the flashing of OTS,Backend and Custom tunes are pretty straight forward, we want to get the WMI to work 100% dialed in correctly using JB4.

Please could you shed some light on how to set up the JB4 as well as the WMI settings when running and OTS tune be it MHD or BM3( in the case of our F series builds) as well as if there are any adjustments to the settings when flashing a custom tune from either tuning platforms.

Your assistance is highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Regards.

Dilo ✌😉

Question:
When 'Choosing you transmission:'; if I have Xdrive and the Alpina mod, which would I choose? "Auto(AT) + Xdrive, or at standard flash" OR "Auto(AT) already flashed with Alpina mod (NON Xdrive)". I'm kind of in the middle. Thanks for your attention.

Default Need help with BEF - 04-14-2019, 09:51 AM

Hi All,

Trying to flash the BMS BEF with MHD but it keeps failing.

Ignition is on, android device is connected and shows its communicating with the DME, the wipers start going and the red indicator light on the OBDII cable goes out and a few minutes later the android device shows it failed to load.

Car is on a charger, JB4 is on Map0 as per instructions....any ideas?

is there a switch on your OBD cable? Mine has one and I keep it in the middle. Not sure outside of that.

No switch on the cable.

It's weird though, as I've already coded out the cold start and it worked no problem. Now when I try to do the BEF it fails.

Any other ideas out there?

Is it possible to get scaling all the way from 10% (93 oct) to 85% ethanol in a single flash, like how MHD's N54 flex fuel implementation works? If so, would it require a custom tune or would one of the provided BEF tunes accommodate this?

Yes - just make sure you save the FUD to enable BEF useage for JB4. My FP kept crashing because i forgot to 'save' my map6 with the proper fud.

i paid my jb4 $500 + shiping, for finally say me that JB4 works the best with BEF,
and for to have BEF, i must use MHD, And for use MHD i must pay :
Licensesare VIN Locked:-Flasher module: $199(needed to write DME)-Monitor module: $69 (needed for Datalogging)-OTS MHD mappacks: $49/ea. (requires Flasher module)

I am disappointed that Burger did not find how to do otherwise the BEF

You don't need the monitor module or map packs. You don't need to do it at all if it's too expensive.

mhd does it all, so why JB4 ?
it's a joke for burger?
it's for that, all guys go to on MHD.

when you paid more $500, the BEF must free.
now Burger must find a way

If you think that MHD does everything JB4 does, you have some research to do. If there were no benefits to the JB4, no one would use it anymore. The BEF is free. Flashing it is not.

Feel free to come up with a way to flash it for free. You would have a lot of people's interest. But you wouldn't make any money. See why MHD charges for flashing?

Hi,

I have a 2013 e82 N55 and just new to this, I have purchased the JB4 and would like to BEF with the MHD.
Do I still need to complete a one off bench flash prior to flashing with the MHD? or has that been resolved with the JB4 BEF?

Also is there a way to reset the Throttle setting apparently it supposse to eliminate the DCT jerking whilst air con is on or during hot weather slowing upto to a stop?

would greatly appreciate if someone could guide me.

thanks in advance.

Cheers

Hi Ron,

I just got a response from MHD;

Hi,

your car is a late e-series n55 equipped with a*MEVD*1726*DME.*
MEVD1726 equipped BMWs need a one time*bench*flash in order to jail brake the ECU to allow flashing via the OBD port.*
This process requires uninstalling the DME from the car and sending it in to a MHD partner for the jail break / unlock.*

Partners | MHD Tuning

You need to uninstall the DME and send it to twisted motor if your in the US. In Australia still trying to find out or alternatively you can purchase the real alien tech flasher and you should be able to do it via the obd, dont quote me on this. Contact alien tech direct. Not the chinese alien tech but the real Web analytics, visitor tracking and IP and heatmap FREE TRIAL version but not dissing the chinese alientech as theres some post diy which seems to work but still trying to build the courage to do so. Hope this helps.

You need to pay very specific attention to the environmental conditions you're in when making evaluations of it's performance. You're likely experiencing one of the DME's many safety mechanisms due to temps - inlet air, coolant, etc. The car will feel slower if the engine is experiencing heat soak as the DME is designed to make less power available as temps increase.

As to the Berger BEF, mine has been rock solid for the last two years...and definitely yields power potential that the stock flash can't touch (assuming that you have all the correct supporting hardware). I'd look elsewhere for the problem...

Hey, extremely new here.

I've had my 12 135i DCT (has 70k miles) for a year now, and looking to turn it up sometime in the near future. Next week I'm going to flash it to stage 2 with MHD, but I see myself going down the PS2 route in about 6 months or so. I've seen a lot of users able to reliably run a FBO PS2 setup with their DCT having no issue at all, but does that require upgrading DCT hardware like the clutches? Or can you simply run the backend pump flash with a PS2 and not have slippage?

Sorry if this has been repetitively answered in this thread, just somewhat new to the scene and didn't really find completely specific answers to my questions in the pages I've read. Thanks.

The back end flash map ramps up the clamping force as much as we can on the DME side. It's possible xhp makes a DCT flash to further improve it, you can check with them. On our 135i PS2 we eventually had to do clutches around 550whp. But we also raced it a lot.
