Default Standalone MHD flash worth it? - 01-05-2016, 10:28 AM

hi guys, i just leased a 2016 z4 35i and want to do some light tuning since it is a lease.. reading through the massive MHD thread and trying to wrap my head around some of the comments.. was planning on doing JB4 initially, but they do not ship to CA.. can someone tell me if a standalone MHD flash is worth it? was planning stage 1 91 oct.. hoping for more smooth throttle response and some power gain.. this is my first turbo car and the power is amazing but the throttle lag is annoying (previous 330ci and lexus is300)

thanks

Better than stock. Not as good as a JB4 + back end flash map though.

Definitely worth it. And you can go a step further and do a custom tune more tailored to your car as well. Great bang for the buck and great logging features.

Does the z4 still use the n54? I thought MHD doesn't support N55...

It is a N54 and yes, the standalone flash is well worth it, especially with a custom tune. Nothing wrong with the JB4 though. If I still had mine laying around I wouldn't mind trying it with the new BEF's, I've heard they're much better with the DCT than they use to be.

Am i the only one shocked that a 2016 BMW Z4 comes with an N54 and not the N55?

Thats kinda cool. I thought the n54 was last used in the 2012 335is

I didn't know this. Quite a shocker.
I never thought that they would resurrect the N54

It's not that they resurrected it. They never changed it!
