Default N54 335i, Taken a few seconds longer to start.... - 11-03-2015, 03:58 PM

Hello all,

New to the forum, so very sorry if this has been asked before.....

My 2008 E93 335i sometimes takes a bit longer than normal to start....
I have recently had a full service and put in NGK Plugs 5992 Gapped to 0.022 which is for Tuned cars as its booked in at Evolve on the 18th.... Do you think the start up is due to plugs or the dreaded HPFP?

Thank you very much for your time...

Ben

Do you notice any smell of unburned gasoline after startup?

I my case, it was a leaking injector. Not the Hpfp.

Pull the plugs and see if any of them are wet and smell like fuel. if you find a wet one, your injector is most likely leaking. Also if it is the pump BMW most likely won't replace it under warranty unless you have the latest injectors, at least that is what i have been told.

Do you know if it is better to check the plugs after driving or when it is cold?

COLD. If you do it warm, the fuel will evaporate.

If your injector is leaking you can tell by looking at the plug, regardless of if it's warm or cold.

It's always a good practice to do plugs on a cold motor though.

There is nothing wrong with the flow, it's their ability to not flow. If you understood how a direct injection injector worked you would realize that a flow test is a waste of money.

Throw away the stock injectors, replace all of them with revision -12, code them and be on your way.

Don't waste your time. It's 100% the injectors. Buy injectors from rock auto, they're $120/ea and index 12.
