How does TBE sound? I assume that it has a pretty good deep low tone. How about emission test? Does your state require emission?

Just installed jb4 on my 135, added 5 gallons of e85, and I'm amazed. I would love to post a dialog of my numbers to get opinions about how my car is performing. I have no idea what I need to do, I have the USB cable, so do I just plug it up to my laptop? I have an apple , does that matter?

Something weird happened tonight. I was out and decided to get on the car a bit. On my 2nd run, the service engine soon light blinked a few times. Out of the 6 runs I did, the light showed up twice. When I went to see if there were any codes, none showed up. Anyone have this issue? What could it be?

It's a very aggressive map @ 18.5psi target, but as long as the car is in good shape and you have straight MS109 it should be OK.

So T, you're saying that even with FBO and MS109 that our cars should be OK to run map 7? If so, when is it definitely OK to run map 7 (on stock turbos)? I ran map 7 frequently with the G4 board but my G5 board is in route so I'm curious if I shouldn't be run map 7 and stick to map 5?

Well... .disable the autodelete, then read codes when the next sel pops up. Just fyi......this engine with many wot will show various codes. I've had many already and mostly I ignore. I especially had many misfires with sel or cel on, and they simply go away along with symptom.

Depending on how many times it flashes could be overboost safety, lean run protection, or misfires.

Default Should I go ISO on my new JB4 G5? Any downsides??? - 12-06-2012, 02:35 PM

I just recently bought and installed JB4 G5 new from BMS. I understand that to run isolated boost which does not involve the DME, I cut out the two diodes and load up new firmware (I assume I would use the latest version available).

From the reviews on this thread, it seems like I can't find a reason to not do this other than the ISO control is still in alpha testing.

Any reason for me to wait or should I just take the plunge? It seems like it would not be feasible to reinstall the diodes if I wanted to revert back.

My car is CPO for two more years and I have DCI. Until out of warranty, I don't plan any other mods (**'s, FMIC, etc.)

Why wouldn't you? ISO is the future and if you look at the G5 sticky, Terry said they're focusing on ISO now so no more normal G5 firmware updates

From what I remember it flashed 3 times. There were no misfires. Only time it happened was, when I was doing about 15 mph and got on it. I have an auto transmission, and when it downshifts few seconds later the service engine light flashed. I was thinking, it could be to much load, or boost down low and thats what caused the light to flash. The car drove perfect, and on other runs it was fine. Maybe I am making it a big deal, when it really is not. I did not know about, if how many times SESL flashes and what it means. I didn't know the amount of time it flashes, it indicates something. I should not have misfires, I only have about 2,500 miles on my plugs and coils. I have a new engine with same amount of miles.

No reason I can think of other than waiting for alpha test "bugs" to get worked out. I gues they will get worked out in later revisions of firmware which I can download though.

Let me put it this way - has anyone noticed ANY bad effects of ISO?

I feel like each revision has made light to medium throttle boost application smoother, esp right after shifts. I'm running 15 right now and it's the smoothest yet, great job to Terry.

You have to load the latest G5_ISOxxx.hex software, never the normal G5 software.

Just do it..... you will like it. IF you are careful, you can revert back to normal Non-ISO software but you won't want to.

You get a DSUB pin removal tool.
