Attention all current and future Single Turbo kit enthusiasts... -
01-21-2015, 07:01 PM
I'm designing and machining engine block interface fittings for custom turbo kits and wanted to let everyone know they will available to purchase soon.
I will be offering the following...
- Front Coolant Return Fittings in -6AN
- Rear Coolant Return Plugs
- Coolant Manifold Blocks with Integrated -6AN Fitting and Weld Boss
- Oil Supply Fittings in -4AN
- Oil Return Fittings in -10AN
Below are some screenshots of the 3D CAD data I've been working on for the Coolant Return Fitting. As you can see, these are designed using the OE as a base so they will perfectly interface with the block. Please scroll down the thread to see other 3D CAD models of all the items I'll be offering.
I will be taking orders soon and will post a link to my site when it launches.

Looks like a cool idea. You should sell them to Motiv, FFTEC, Ventura Motorsports, etc!

Not sure the cost for a small run and perhaps you want to DIY but if you'd rather take an easier route we do have these offered a la carte already:
http://www.rbturbo.com/products/acce...rface-adapters
Also have many other fittings for the N54/N55, for the turbo and block side (all of them aside oil drain interface to block as it is taking forever to get that one to priority level).

Because mine will be much less expensive than yours. Having 3D parametric modeling software and a 6-axis CNC machining center at my disposal makes it easy.
Besides, I emailed you about this very subject on December 23rd with no reply. So, I decided to take things into my own hands, as I'm doing with several things in the single turbo arena.

The Garrett GT30 and GT35 series turbos use a M14x1.5 threaded coolant port but you can adapt anything to it.

I can make the drain plug but it depends on what turbo you have.
I will have a few front coolant feed fittings (-6AN) completed by the weekend.

e90tiag335i - everything except the oil feed block. Might take it as well and sell the RB one I have though.

I'd take a set if they were -4an. I'm thinking about running coolant to both my tial WG's to help with heat management. Probably 90% overkill but if it makes me sleep at night ill do it.
Have a single turbo and/or tired of burning up O2 sensors? Ask me about the new ADV O2 sensor retro kits!

Sorry, not avoiding. This all really hinges on how much genuine interest there is in this. If I can’t get at least 10 people to “commit” to being seriously interested, then it’s really not feasible. I've already made 4 of the front coolant supply fittings to confirm the machining sequence is optimized for that piece. But if there is no interest in the rest, I’ll just shut it down there since that was the only part I needed to finish my kit conversion. Cost is difficult to say at this point due to low interest and the fact the machining processes (time and complexity) of the other fittings and interface blocks is unknown.
I will probably go ahead and model the rest up in CAD just to get an idea of how everything will look. I should have them done by the end of next week. I do have a regular job
The Engine Block Interface Fitting Kit would include (in theory)…
(1) Rear Coolant Plug
(1) Front Coolant Supply Fitting (-6AN)
(1) Coolant Return Block w/Fitting (-6AN)
(1) Oil Supply Block w/Fitting (-4AN)
(1) Turbo Drain Fitting (-10AN)
(1) Front Turbo Oil Return Fitting (-10AN)
I’m not in this to make a killing, I would just like to cover my material cost and make it somewhat worth my time. To give you an idea, It took about 8 hours to model and construct the CNC machining tool paths for the front fitting alone. That may seem like a lot to some but I don’t half-ass anything and I take the time to make sure it’s done right the first time.
I really would love to provide these fitting kits to all you ST DIY guys but if I don’t get the interest, I really can’t justify it. The more that sign up the better, with 10-15 kits being the green-light minimum thresh-hold, I would think.
I hope this helps.
