Default F10 535i Intercooler Options ?? - 03-04-2016, 10:57 PM

Sorry if this has all ready been covered. Looking to see what my options for replacing the factory intercooler are other then Wagner. I have the JB4 installed Bms intake and Charge ***** on the way, as well as Vsrf down pipe and AFE ******** back exhaust. I'm not trying to go crazy just would like everything to be as efficient as possible.

For my E82 I've pretty much narrowed it down to two options:-

ER or Wagner EVO 2 Competition: Can you get these for a 535i?

ATM would be the other I'd consider but I think only after the above.

It depends on what you're priority is cooling / pressure drop etc. There also be variance depending on model of car.

UK 2011 - E82- 135i - N55 - DCT

JB4 | BMS OCC | N20 TMap | Fuel-It! PI | AIC6 PI Controller | Fuel-It! Fuel Lines | Fuel-It! Stage 2 LPFP | Continental In-line E Sensor | ER Charge Pipe | Pure Stage 2 Turbo | Pure High Flow Inlet | GFB DV+ | Richter C'less D/Pipe | Berk Race Full Exhaust | MFactory Pro Helical LSD (75% Bias Ratio) | eDiff Disabled Via Coding | MFactory Solid Diff Bushes | Diff Lockdown Bracket | Custom 98G0B BEF | NGK 5992s | KW3 Coilovers

The only company I've seen is Wagner. I'm almost tempted on buying the BMS f30 intercooler and making it work.

Was it truly a direct fit or was there slight modification needed to install?

No modification necessary at all, but it is a very tight fit, it took a bit of manipulating and 3 hands to get it into position. Doing it on Jack stands certainly didn't help. It took a solid 2 hours.

Is that you FSociety? Eitherway how many hours of fabrication needed and level of difficulty? Also link to the intercooler used. Thanks

Is there any point on the stock turbo? I've only got a BMS intake, ER chargepipe, and JB4.

Yes, on stock turbo your IAT's will climb a good amount each time you get on it, with the bigger intercooler it makes a big difference to keep IATs down.

Stock turbo and no tune maybe not, but a JB4, yah! Even if you're only requesting 13psi you're already exceeding the limits of the stock FMIC to dissipate heat quickly. I'm 19psi tapering to 13psi and I am heat soaked all over the place, its gross.

hmm...I've had it all wrong then. l've been thinking it'd cause more lag, but I just re-read its description.

I REALLY want a down_pipe, but I have emissions. And I've heard a catted one isn't really worth it. Looks like I may be picking one of these intercoolers up then. Thanks guys.

Higher boost will compensate for time to pressurize the fmic and negate lag

Ah, hence why you said "stock turbo and no tune, maybe not". Understood, thanks!

We're in the works for a larger F series Intercooler for the people who have larger turbos.
