Just swapped *** in the garage last night. Installing these inlets without pulling turbos is gonna be a mofo. I **** myself when I saw how small of a work space the rear turbo inlet has. Oh well, bring it on. Hope the second wave gets delivered on a big semi.

Rob,
It would be great if we could get PDF installation instructions with pics to print out for our Indies. Thanks

Yes. I just put RB's on mine (not back up yet) and it is very very tight everywhere. You literally have to remove things to get or see other things. Getting under there for the first time to start it all makes it look 10x worse. After some time under there though it's not quite that bad. Lower subframe on xi and lower engine just a tad though helps add some room. I was waiting for inlets in hand but i'll put the time in to drop subframe, ***, and swap later.
Helps having already done it since a lot of stuff is easier by feel / knowing where it's at. At the beginning it's very very foreign looking getting in there from underneith.

Here's how i'll be doing mine btw on 335xi:
Lower subframe, remove ***, remove passenger motor mount, lower engine just slightly to add a little more room. That's where you can actually see it possible & not that bad.

I'm sure a lot of DIY's will start popping up soon. But yes installing these without removing the turbos may leave you thinking "why didn't I just remove the turbos". The biggest hurdle is going to be removing the old rear inlet, after that it is cake as these install very easy after achieving that much. The front inlet install is very easy for anyone who is mechanically inclined.
Update: The silicone vendor gave us the update that more sets will be shipped around 10/10, and based on their "guestimate" of number of units to be shipped will put us having enough product to deliver to all of those who paid prior to August 26th, 3:00am, CST. If you are unsure if this is you check your payment timestamp to see if you paid prior to that time (while considering the timezone).
Thanks,
Rob

A good day when I opened the front door -
10-03-2015, 03:23 PM
My RB inlets came in today and look great. They got here quick, thanks Rob. I took some pictures as I am really impressed with the quality of these inlets. You can see where they reduce in diameter in the first and last picture pretty good. The design of the caps and metal valve connectors was very well done. Hopefully I said that correctly.

Thanks 01bird for sharing!
Many of these should be reaching many hands now and many more in the upcoming 12 or so days as part of the next wave. I will continue to get them out within a day of arrival to the best of my ability.

Yes there are still extra sets as part of this large order, especially since most of the 5'er guys seem to not be interested so we will take the "reserve" off of those sets. Keep in mind they are still coming in waves, we have none available to ship at the moment, and we will ship them in order of payment received as they are received.

From a labor cost perspective, I'll be you dollars to donuts that the answer is "hell yes". I'm hoping the first batch of DIYers can streamline the install and provide some lessons learned. I installed ******* *** the other day on the 1M and while they were out, I could still barely touch the rear inlet.

To anyone who paid and is wondering about the above sort of question:
1) Log into paypal.
2) Find your transaction.
3) Click on details.
4) Look at timestamp for payment sent.
5) Convert and compare to the stated time/timezone- August 26th, 3:00am, CST
6) If payment sent before, you are in wave. If not, will come at a later wave.
We will know more later this week as to whether the wave will be larger or smaller, the provided timestamp was more or less of a guestimate based on what we were told. We are hoping for better news as we would like to get this show on the road faster than it has been thus far.
Thanks,
Rob

Directions:
1) Log into paypal.
2) Find your transaction.
3) Click on details.
4) Look at timestamp for payment sent.
5) Convert and compare to the stated time/timezone- August 26th, 3:00am, CST

Any body had these installed in a E90 or similar...
I cannot get the rear tube through the narrow passage down to the turbo. The old piece is removed but is having big problems with the RB one...
Help much appreciated

See this post:
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=499
Ultimately the tube will not just fall into position. It takes a bit of "elbow grease" to get in place. Once you follow directions in the above post, however, it should only take about 15 mins with one person. Maybe 5 mins with 2 people. It'll fit quite nice when you are done, as seen in the picture.
Thanks,
Rob

Put some soap on the tube to make it slippery. It will slide around the aluminum easier. Just don't put it on the inside. For the inside I sprayed air spray. Tacky!!
