Now that's the idea!

We had poor experiences with 2 different inlet kits we tried this last week. Searching for something to recommend with our turbos. This is looking like a winner. Nice work Rob. Put us down for a sample kit please.

I don't understand your logic as why you wouldn't recommend a t bolt clamp. The T bolt clamps have lock nuts usually so less likely to loosen up over time.

I do understand that tbolt would be more likely to be over tightend easily and possibly distort or crack the turbo inlet.

I'm not trying to argue I just would rather never have to re-tighten up a worm clamp

There is a time and place for t-bolts, I just think this is not one of them. By all means if you want T-bolts you can order them up as you wish... But our stance is the same being that it is far from necessary and an otherwise waste.

Don't mind the Tony clone, aka Cloney.

@Rob: Please put me down for that second set. I've confirmed with the guy I wanted to order for. Thanks.

Now it takes a trained eye to see extra bends and smaller diameter equals less flow? Haha you guys are great.
I guess only Rob can make speculations about products he doesnt own.

I'd prefer to see data with the inlets installed in a car for the ones that follow stock routing, versus the bench testing the guy did prior. I wonder if that's possible.

I think these inlets have a good design given the limits of the engine bay. Obviously a shorter direct inlet mounted on the side where the coolant overflow pipe is located as for ST would be ideal. But compare the stock skinny channel inlets which have a much smaller cross-sectional area to Rob's much fatter inlet ***** and I think we have a winner.

I'm on the fence not because I think they won't work, but because I'm not sure if I want to (or can afford to) go through an 8-12 hour DIY install. Maybe if I someday upgrade my turbos and *** then it would be a good time to add inlets.

Bingo. Flow testing competitive silicone inlets on a bench (un-squished and with un-clamped ends) will not be comparable to its flow in application on the vehicle (squished and with clamped down ends). The good news is that whatever these RB units will flow on a bench, will be what the will flow on the car. No gimmicks here.

Furthermore we are dealing with compressor housing inlets maxed out at around 43mm. So given that our RB inlets begin at the air box at around 58mm with a nice gradual taper down to the smallest section of the hose at 46mm, it is of extreme doubt they will hinder actual turbo performance in anyway.

For comparisons sake, the OEM inlets begin at the air box at around 58mm down to the smallest section of the rear compressor inlet at 34mm.

Thanks,
Rob

Hey Rob, excellent, please put me down for a set with the adaptors (full pack version pls), to fit 135i rhd. Would still like to keep the forge diverter valves too, looking at the pics this should be all good

Update: The inlets have been test fitted. The GREAT news is that rear inlet fits like a dream! The bad news is that the front is going to need a minor revision, we are going to see if this can be done via pictorial explanation vs. sending in the samples revised again. Thanks all for your patience, we just want to make sure we get the best product we can for all you guys!

Depends on if doing during a turbo install (recommended) or by trying to install w turbos already in place.
