I don't think Terry is wasting any time when many others have already been hard at work. The DME is cracked, there's nothing more to do. Now just wait and see who stays in the lead.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's better than what you've come up with. Pointless criticism is not very welcome on N54tech.

Will they give info on how to do to everyone else? I’m happy for mission to being the first to successful dyno a flashed b58 but numbers are a bit disappointing for a 900$ Product

Many tuners have access to the B58 DME now. I don't know all the details of how they obtain it. But Terry needs a software tool that allows him to make a custom flash that plays nice with the JB4. The OTS flashes you are seeing pop up may or may not work well with the JB4. Only time will tell.

If this was available when I bought my MPPSK I surely would have gone this route and something else for the exhaust. More flexible, cheaper, and could be parted out better. But I don't regret the MPPSK since it was all that was available. Plus it sounds great and is very high quality. But it was over $3k!

Pointless? The point is that this tune in best case makes the same power as jb4. I was expecting more from it. Maybe it is just this particular tune and there maybe more to come.

Great that the cracked it. To be honest, I don't care about the power numbers, I want to know if they solved the DME fueling restrictions. That seemed to be the big bottleneck for everything from tune-only all the way up to big turbo. Hopefully the info is public so we can get a BB/MHD product fairly soon.

Let's take a look at the facts:
  1. All dyno numbers posted are SAE and not STD. Multiply by 1.05 to get STD, based on his stock run of 294 to 309 SAE to STD correction factor.
  2. The test car has a 100% stock exhaust.
  3. His "MPPK" flash got him 331 SAE (348 STD).
  4. His Stage 1 got him 359 SAE (378 STD).
  5. His Stage 2 got him 372 SAE (391 STD), but also 31 more ft.-lbs.
  6. His "Stage 2+", let's call it, got him 382/407 SAE (401/428 STD). With intake, exhaust, and better fuel, this flash version will easily be getting closer to 425/450 STD CF.

I dyno'd 336/391 STD with my MPPSK in Map 0. Mission Performance's Stage 1 was +42 WHP and Stage 2 was +55 WHP over that. Plus the fueling limits have now been bypassed. What more do you guys want?

Well since you asked - Hmmm, a free BEF provided by BMS that plays nicely with JB4 and allows us to throw much more fuel, E85, etc? That plus meth injection for cooling and youíre going to get some nice results on even a mostly stock car.

FWIW I agree that these dyno numbers are promising and worthwhile, and not just for the numbers, but what they represent.

Added potential of this motor is so close, exciting times ahead.

It might be a while before we get "free" backend flashes. I prefer to go this route since they are local to me and I want to get this PS2 crankin'.

Not a bad choice. If guys like Pure and Fuel-It start selling kits that need the flash, it will be tempting.

On the JB4 end all we really need is a half way decent flash map that runs OK on it's own at 15-16psi with the fuel limiter removed. With that we can setup the JB4 to handle the rest for higher HP applications.

And once MHD adds B58 flashing tools, they will eventually, we'll post free unlocked JB4 BEF maps like we do for all other platforms MHD supports!

According to the Datazap logs this runs ~18psi.
They seem to be able to get more fuel, looks like they got AFRs into the 12s compared to 14s on the stock tune.

These guys posted dynos as well.
Note that UK dyno operators calculate back to flywheel bhp instead of using whp.

I imagine MHD will release the tools for both at the same time, since they use the same DME.

Terry,
Mission Tuning seems to have the ability to create a custom bootloader which is not easily detectable by the dealer. Not trying to hide power train issues caused by tuning but one of the big benefits of the jb4 is that you can remove it and avoid issues when going to the dealer for other reasons. Do you know if this is something that MHD or any other company has/is working on?

If you flash the car it's easy for BMW to detect that using various methods. Anyone telling you otherwise is naive at best willfully ignorant at worst. If it's a lease or you are concerned about having BMW know you've flashed the car, then just don't flash it.

Ah okay interesting. They claim mboot fools the dealer tools into thinking the software is bmw oem and always reports its at the latest revision.
