Helped a friend pick out a 2017 X5 n55 a week ago.
Yesterday this popped up on idrive:
"Engine temperature: drive moderately."
Then eventually went into limp mode, engine temp on dash stayed in middle
All cooling fans full blast
So I said "****, water pump". I will just replace hers with a spare that I have for my n54.....Side note, looks like BMW changed the water pump on the n55 from the n54 one to a different mfg/pn in 2012. So this plan probably wont work.
Pulled codes, only code is CD9010 LIN lost communication with water pump. There is not a ton of info in the google/forum-verse for that code. Normally a failing water pump will throw other codes along with the CD9010.
I am going to head out under it now and look at wiring and such, but it being a newish MY, I cant imagine wiring/connectors failing this quickly.......but who knows with the bavarians
Any and all help is appreciated. TIA
