Do BMS tunes not work on X5 platform? -
10-11-2014, 04:52 PM
The E70 X5 can be had with a N55 or N63. BMS has tunes for both these engines in the various cars, but does not list the X5 as an application. Do the tunes really not work on the engines in the X5? Why not/what is the difference?
Edit: I just noticed the 'N63' thread where it does mention the N63 tune works on the X5 platform. Curious it is not listed as an application on the main BMS website. Is the N55 also supported in the X5 despite not being listed as an application?

Thanx Terry. Are there any plans to offer stage 2/JB4 for the X5 platform? I'm shopping X5s and the ability to tune factors heavily into my selection of powertrain.

No formal support is planned for the JB4 currently. Although, I've heard, it can be made to work.

Thanx again Terry. If the technical hurdles are manageable, the business case for providing support is evident, especially with the less-expensive and more-available N55 trucks.
Does anyone know if there has been successful stacking of tunes on the X5?

My wife has an N55 powered X3 (F25), and it would be awesome if Stage2/3 F Series N55 JB4 could be made to work with it. Anyone have more info on people who have made it work?

The F series JB4 is also compatible with the X3/X5 N55 now. Some models do not have a working in dash map switch yet though.

Wife has a 2012 x5 5.0 (e70). The F series JB 4 works just minus the dash info?
If that's the case I can just get the JB4 and set it to map 5 with a laptop and we are good to go, right? Or the REV kit?

N55 only. For the N63 you'd use the N63 Stage1 tune.

We don't make a Stage2. There is Stage1 and JB4.

Don't know on the 2016. I think so. 2015 definitely works. If it doesn't for 2016 we'll add it soon via a free software update. Everything else works as well.

Does anyone know of a good thread that talks about getting the JB4 to work with the E series (2012) X5 3.5i?

E series X5 JB4 is not compatible, F series X5 it is. For E series X5 run Stage1.

Terry, it looks like the X5 N63 is mentioned on the JB4 page, but omits the year 2013. So is it compatible with a 2013 X5 50i? I just picked one[X5 50i] up and I wanted to know if it would work.

Doesn't work well with my 2017 F25. My truck HATES ISO. I truly believe it has less power than stock with it installed, and throws constant drivetrain malfunctions. I'm back to the Stage 1, which its much happier with.
