Nice find.... I too get concerned about mix staying intact. I try to find a good mixture already, (like boost juice) then add methanol in hopes that whoever made the mixture used a stabilizer to hold the blend together. The only thing is, if there is such a stabilizer, it would be important to only use enough to bond all of the water to all of the alcohol leaving none for additional alcohol.

Not sure if its better than mixing water and methanol

I would love to learn of a substance that helped bond the water to the alcohol to keep it mixed and stable.

Just a reminder while looking at tank tapping: us 5ers have the WW fill, vent, and tank on the driver's side. The setup might be model specific if the aux pump ports are used.

Water and alcohol mix well, they are both polar and form molecular hydrogen bonds:

They mix, but it will not be homogenous. If you can figure out a way to get a homogenous mixture of water and alcohol, you can start cashing checks. Scotch and bourbon companies, not to mention the healthcare industry would pay big bucks for that.

Anyone who drinks scotch can tell you there's no good mix of alc and water.

Pure methanol creates hydrogen bonds bonds with water at the molecular level. Next time try mixing everclear

Could just be the chemical structure of methanol though, i am not much of a chemist.

Like any good sales and marketing company.....create a demand and then blame the waiting game on R&D to keep pricing high !!! Kidding....Terry is working diligently and hopefully we see something soon at a great price that integrates with JB4!!!

I want a simple underhood setup, but i dont want to tap the windshield tank, not do i want to meth pump looking so exposed. A nice integrated meth tank and pump that mounted between the bumper crash barrier would be perfect.

You'd be on your own to make such a kit. The good news is setting up meth systems is pretty easy and there are plenty of various parts available from CM and other vendors.

The criteria we're going for is a clean/simple/safe install. The pump mount location and washer tank reuse fits our needs perfectly. As does the new JB4->FSB integration. Overall I'm pretty excited about this kit as its going to be a true PNP. But we still have some work to go before it's ready for production.

The washer tank is perfect for me as I never use the washer unit (car never sees rain)

I use the washer unit all the time as I park the car outside. And it still works great for me.

What fluid pick up options to the pump will you be working with other than from washer fluid lines?
I'd like a pickup directly off the tank and maybe if the pump fits hidden in fender well with tank as well.

Default BMS underhood meth kit and FSB discussion - 06-03-2011, 02:22 PM

Hey guys,

Just got done with the JB4/FSB wiring diagram. It slides in to the JB4 PNP harness very cleanly! Then you connect the single output wire to the pump/solenoid which are grounded on the bracket.

This is a great setup for those who want to forgo the CMGS/VC2 flexibility and are looking for a quicker, cleaner, and less expensive install. The JB4 runs the meth based on internal logic we've programmed using the various CAN parameters available to it. If DTC kicks in meth turns off, boost is held low until meth starts flowing and then progressively increased, meth only turns on when selecting map 3, etc. And I'm sure as time passes we'll come up with plenty of new tricks here.

We'll be offering this option with our new engine bay mount kit and also with the traditional tanks.

We'll have around 10 FSB boxes soon for alpha testing. Those will probably retail for $150 with the JB4 pins/wires ready to plug in to the harness, or $125 bare wires for guys who want to DIY and save a few dollars. The first round will go to people who already have meth kits but want to help us test the JB4 integration elements. Then from there we'll start rolling out the engine bay mount kits.

I want to alpha but don't have meth. Surely you need a 535 guinea? Are you still working out WW tank?

After the first 10 we should have some WW alpha kits ready. Just need to take my mocked up bracket to a pro and have them produce 100 of em to tide us over. Also still trying to find a good check valve that can withstand methanol but cracks at a low enough pressure to allow the wipers to properly function.

This option is not for use with the CM controller or mechanical flow sensor.
