Red face How long is my car going to last?? - 09-18-2019, 12:42 PM

I have a 2011 135i DCT. purchased at 63k miles and immediately went FBO with an e30 mix, jb4 and MHD backend. I drive it like a mad man. everytime I drive it, I floor the gas and love to downshift when coming to redlights. the car has 77k miles now. how much longer do you think it will last??

I'm in the same boat - bought at 56k stock, now at 77k FBO E40. Hoping to hit 100k without major issues. After that, I will probably move to the S55 platform.

It will last 28.4K miles further. On August 24th at 2:31 pm you will throw a rod bearing. It is raining so you try to make it home and make it 2 miles away when the rod goes through the block. Good luck

100K should be fine to hit for major components, will go through the typical fuel, timing, potentially clutch, type of parts.

14k miles into my stage 2 + e40 sending it every day with no ** or FMIC for the first year.

Still runs like a bell. Had to change sparks recently thought - that was about it.

I've got 60k+ miles on mine with very hard modded usage over a dozen season changes and over 100k total miles. She's seen about 8 sets of tires, lots of brake pads, a couple rotors, suspension and mounts maintenance, 15 oil and filter changes at under 5k miles each.

How long it lasts is up to how well you maintain it. And I do mean you. Dealerships will kill it every opportunity they get. So will most every shop you wouldn't trust with your life.

They are actually very easy to work on, and incredibly robust. Specialty tools in some cases are the only silly bit. And you do need them when called for. One time use bolts aren't terrible, appreciate the benefits they offer and get used to planning to do it right so you don't have to replace them twice. Codes popping up make it trivial to know if there's any issue.

Never cut corners. It only takes one to scrap it all.

I bought mine with 50k and went to FBO + stg 1 within a year. I'm now at 112k and just went to Pure stg 2. Car is solid and reliable. In fact, it still has the factory clutch in it.

Now, to be fair, I have done quite a lot of maintenance to keep it nice but that's to be expected.
