Need help. After installing JB4 Car cuts off when I try to drive -
09-09-2018, 09:37 AM
I have been searching but haven''t found symptoms identical to mine. Just trying to figure out what I did wrong and what I need to replace. Thanks in advance for your help.
I installed JB4 gen5 and BT adapter on my 07 355i. Followed installation instructions. While I had covers off I put new NGK spark plugs Gaped at .22 and new Delphi coils. After initial start up I got reduced power message and got code 3100, 2abc and 2acb Figured it needed updating so I went ahead and updated firmware. Was able to clear codes with JB4 but when I put the car in drive and give it gas it cuts off. attempted to drive car to get logs but can barely make it out of driveway. I did some research and decided to ground the map in case I lost ground. Made sure all settings were to stock. Double checked everything I could think of or read could be the cause I am down to code 2ABD intake pressure. This code comes up at start up. I can clear it but when I put it in drive and give it gas it cuts off. Just wanted to check here before I start throwing parts at it. Thanks again

Remove jb4 and see if it reoccurs. You need to eliminate stuff u installed to make sure it's not causing your issues.

True. I was planing to remove it and see if it reoccurs. I even considered putting my old plugs back in and oem coils since I never had a misfire with them. Was doing that as part of preventive maintenance while I had covers off. Thought I would check first if any one had this happen before and hoping it was something simple I overlooked. I was thinking it maybe a bad Tmap

Make sure your tmap sensor is set correctly

Uninstall JB4 & see if car will run.
Double check all connections too- Any codes?

Thank you for the reply's I will remove it later today and see if car goes back to normal.
Reason I think something went wrong is I was able to drive the car at first under reduced power after initial installation
Additional info
I was able to drive car after Initial install of JB4 After initial start up I got reduced power message and got code 3100, 2abc and 2acb but I went and drove it. I had hoped once I updated software everything would be ok. I had to wait for BT activation. After BT was activated I did the firmware update after that is when car would not leave driveway. I made sure my settings were correct. I unhooked the BT to see if that was the culprit but it still would stall. I thought maybe I had a bad ground and added a ground to the yellow black wire on the map sensor. I checked all my fuses both inside glovebox and under hood
I found a few errors on my settings and corrected them but still car will stall. I double checked all my conections to make sure they were good and made sure the arrows pointed correctly. I did one plug at the time during install to make sure everything went were it was supposed to go
After I double checked everything I could think of or read could be the cause I am down to code 2ABD intake pressure. Car cranks right up. It idles no problem. While in park I can rev the engine up just once I put it in gear and give it gas to move it stalls or feels like accelerator is not responding. Thanks again

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I bought it used from a member in a 335i group. That’s why I was hoping I did something wrong or had a wrong setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I took pictures of my settings when I had it hooked up. I thought of reinstalling it and double checking everything again

That would help, post that + a pic of the actual board, remove cover.
Also, inspect all the pins too.
Kinda one of the pitfalls of buying used sometimes : /
