Default Code 133E10 valvtronic system: disabled, to frequent verstellfehler? - 03-17-2018, 03:10 PM

Can anyone give help me why this code is showing on my f30 2013 335i Xdrive.

What happened: merging onto a busy street stepped on it, it downshifted and the car didnít like it, engine light turned on with drivetrain malfunction continue driving. I stopped and checked the codes thru the jb4 app. There will be a picture with what I saw. I deleted the codes, it turned off the cel but the drivetrain malfunction was still up. I shut the car off completely, turned it back on and no check engine light and no malfunction however when I check for codes this 133E10 code still stays there. There is no power loss or any indication that thereís something wrong.

Any help on how I can fix it would be appreciated

I have the exact same issue right now.

M135i is mine, 133E10 code. Sometimes goes away for a day or two and then back again.

No loss of power, no noticeable issues other than the CEL and error code itself.

Did you get to the bottom of the issue?

I actually have not fixed it and have been driving with it as is. I havenít noticed anything other than maybe a couple mpg lower. But the I only get the 133e10 code. Iíve probably done 10k miles on it and no issues whatís so ever. Iíve read maybe if we reset the valvtronic it can fix it, I think if not wrong it can be reset at the dealer or if you have one those tuning apps, Iíve been meaning to download the app but it doesnít work Apple products so been to lazy to look for an android phone or tablet to download the tunes and stuff etc. if you do find a solutions please let me know

Wow well thats a positive! I was worrying I was going to damage the engine or something.

I have also read the same that it can be fixed with a re calibration by a dealer for a small amount. I may well try this. I have also read that some people (on E90 forum) have actually disabled the valvetronic system on purpose in order to improve throttle response (apparently). So this is all very bizarre, I'm not sure whether the car actually needs the valvetronic system or not!

I have come to the conclusion it works basically to improve fuel economy so the cam is not always on high lift under normal driving conditions thus saving fuel. However with the system disabled, the car goes into a fail safe mode, increases the cam lift to max and runs on high cam all the time, hence the extra fuel consumption.

I compare it a little to the Honda VTEC system (I have experience with Honda). Low cam below 6k rpm, high cam above 6k rpm - all in order to improve fuel economy. I guess its like having a Honda in VTEC all the time.

I'll let you know what happens.
