Default has anyone tried federal fz-201 tires - 08-16-2017, 10:43 AM

I'm looking for a 17" tire that will hook decent in a straight line.

I had the 595 feral tires before on a more powerful car and was impressed with them besides the noise.

Anyone try the fz-201 tires yet? price is cheap for a R compound.

looking for something comparable to the nt05r or n555r in a 255/40/17

my buddy runs them, they are a track tire so the sidewall is pretty stiff. I have zero issues hooking up on my federal 595 RSR with zero road noise....the RSRR is the one that makes all the noise

I was definitely planning on running the 595rs-r up front , I had the 595rs-rr prior.
They where nice and wide for their size too, hope the rs-r are the same.

I might try the 201s, stuff sidewall isn't ideal but if it's the right compound they might work well.

Would not 595rsr-r and 595rs-rr be the same?

vwetish The rs-rr are the flame tread design.

So my wheels and tires arrived, the 595rs-r are nice as I expected, compound feels nice and soft. Should be a good tire for spirited street use. These will be in the front.

The fz-201 are a much harder compound by feel, even though the tread wear is much lower. Im mainly concerned with straight line grip so hopefully they suffice, but I think the 595rs-r would have been a better choice. For the price ill give these a shot.

Will be running 255/40/17 square

My car Might see a drag strip once or twice too but Im not to optimistic without having the LSD yet.

I know that RS-RR are the flame tread design.

This is what you wrote:

Federal options are:
595RS-R (what you have now)
595RS-RR (what you had)

That is why I said 595RSR-R and 595RS-RR would be the same. Maybe you mistype?
