Default Adding ** to N20 w/ EWG and JB4 - 09-05-2015, 03:05 PM

Hi all,

Finally bit the bullet and ordered a ** for my N20, it was a late model 2013 with the EWG. Been running JB4 on Map 1 with no issues so far, and always use 93 octane. I have not ordered/added the EWG wires, as I read mixed reviews about any gains from it. Of course, now that I ordered the **, I am seeing all kinds of issues popping up about the N20 reliability at higher boost levels. So, my questions are:

1. Is it within the realm of safety to still use Map 1 after installing the **? Will there not be any noticeable gains, or do I need to use Map 2 because of the **?

2. Since I will not be using anything other than Map 1(or possibly Map 2), are the EWG wires a necessity since I am adding the **? Also, if I am not using the EWG wires, would the EWG firmware be of any benefit or should I leave it the same?

Thanks for any insight, just looking to give the car a little pep in her step without going overboard(or damaging anything serious )

I also hear ** show barely any gains on N20

But a lot of things have to be taken in consideration..
93+ octane
RWD or AWD ?
AT or MT

If your vehicle has EWG actuator, then you should use EWG firmware.
It depends on your wastegate actuator type, NOT connecting EWG connector.

If you only use map1 and map2, then dont need to connect ewg connector in latest firmware.(I mean if your jb4's map1 and map2 are additive maps)
because in map1 and map2, ewg signal will be ignored.
