Default Jb4 fuel trims - 05-17-2019, 04:43 PM

Can anyone explain why jb4 app uses 25 as 0 percent for fuel trims. And there no stft and ltft just trims or am I looking at something wrong.... if I use a different scanner for stft and ltft jb4 needs to be turned off, doesn't that mean all my values are out of whack with hybrid turbos or BEF is enough for jb4 to be off and dme sees those hybrid turbo air flow as normal.
Hopefully I make scene trying to make scene of all this, thank you guys

The hybrid BEF + the JB4 is more than enough to keep your trims in order

Thank you for reply Dave. I'm trying to monitor my fuel trims, its really hard to tell the percentage looking at jb4 monitor. (Hard for me). I wanna use a different scanner, if I use protool, jb4 has to be at map 0. Off. Is just BEF enough for me to drive and get accurate reading of trims. (If I'm doing this all wrong, please excuse for nonsense). Thank you.

If you haven’t read through that thread yet, you definitely should. It will certainly help you to understand the parameters displayed by your JB4 better.

Is there a specific reason you want to Monitor trims? Are you having an issue or throwing a mixture control code?

I've posted this log and someone pointed out that my trims difference between banks. I see the iats and timing issues and just bought a bigger intercooler. I'll be installing it hopefully by the end of next week. But with trims I really cant see anything, I watched a few awesome videos on trims, stft and ltft are an awesome tool for diagnose. And that's why I'm trying to see actual percentage on my screen.

I see the bank variance- jb4 has a safety built In for trim variance

Obviously the closer the better.

Get that fmic Installed

How old are your injectors? Index?

Yeah injectors are index 8 and who knows how old they.... looking at the log do you think the injectors are the most probable cause of the trims going up like this? I guess I should be ok for a bit longer as long as dme not throwing any codes, while I collect some money for some index 12s. Dang they expensive tho haha

A couple things can throw off fuel trims, injectors just being 1 - if you aren’t showing any other symptoms- rough idle, cold start issues- id think you are ok.

A variance that large isn’t common tho- do you have anymore recent WOT logs?

I do have a rough idle on warm starts every other time tho and just for a few seconds. It's not my daily but I'm trying to get at the shape where I can use it daily if I need to. I'll try to make a new log tonight if I have time. Thank you very much sir.

Let the car sit overnight- pull the plugs & see if they’re wet with gas

maybe you could try adjusting your ‘fuel open loop’ value.
I remember having a similar issue with a FBO+ stock turbo car which also had heavy timing corrections like you do; I played with the FOL until I got it to normalize. Both trims and timing.
You should make sure your fuel mixture is accurate as well - assuming you’re running a mixture.

I'm running 92, we have 93 but it's an old crappy gas station. So thought I'd try 92 from a decent newer place... my mods: hybrid turbos, DCI, 2" inlets, straight pipe for exhaust, new 2 step colder NGK plugs, VTTO upgraded PCV. Jb4 and BEF. Will be installing BMS 5" intercooler this weekend :-)

Map 1 log I made yesterday night and 5 is a couple weeks old. I see on my new log, trims are going positive and sometimes negative. My spark plugs do have a bit wet fuel on most.... all this points to my injectors been leaky right :-( thanks guys

ManiN54 thank you for your input, you think you can help me find information on how I can try adjusting FOL. or is it something that a professional tuner should only mess with? Thanks again

You can try adjusting on your own.

Wet plugs are indicators of failing injectors : /

I see my Fol at 40. I read guys having FOL at 90 or 75. I'm thinking to set it to 75. That should be safe to try, I hope. Will post results :-) thank you for all your help

Sry for the late response.
I realize by your log that you are running fuel enrichment but you did not list port injection in your mod list.
Do you have port injection?
Fuel open loop value is normally in the range 60-90 on cars with no additional fueling.
On the cars I dial in; I normally start at 60 and work my way up until I find the point where ‘afr’ and ‘trims’ are desirable.
I personally run a high fol value as I run 60-70% ethanol.

Also as Dave stated, wet spark plugs are one sign of leaky injectors so you should get a professional to test those or just upgrade to index 12 if it’s in your bucket list.

No port injection, and no additives to fuel, just pump gas. What on the log shows fuel enrichment? Maybe something is off or not right in my settings. I raised FOL to 75, only did one run tho and my timing and trims wasn't good. I'm working on the intercooler right now, next I'll be replacing injectors.
Thank you for your time ManiN54

The FuelEn parameter shows fuel enrichment.
Try setting your jb4 to default settings, you can find the here > E Series N54 JB4 - N54Tech.com - International Turbo Racing Discussion
And run the jb4/MHD pump backend flash and see how it runs.
Also ensure you select the correct flash for your hybrid turbos and the correct value for whatever map sensor you have.
