Default Map 5 to 4, codes - 04-12-2022, 04:24 PM

New N54/JB4 owner and forum member here,

Was logging a WOT pull just to see how everything works with JB4 and got kicked out of map 5. The log is attached, looks like afr2 went lean before the map change but I'm brand new to this so I'd love an expert opinion.

Immediately after map switch I checked codes and got 29E1, 2A2C, 29D1, 29D0, 29CC, and 2C31. Image attached. I don't think 2DED is relevant.

Didn't log these but have seen 29D2, 2C28, and 2C27 in addition to many of above a few days before.

Codes and log lead me to believe it needs a new upstream o2 sensor on bank 2, does this seem right?

Thanks!

Car has ARM ******* ***, AA CP/BOV, DCI, Walbro 450. Index 12s, plugs and coils ~5000mi old

What fuel are you running? Your timing is super sporadic and your fuel trims are maxing out. Please post a log in map 2 once these changes have been made.

Clear the codes, set "Default Wastegate Position" to (60), set "FF / Wastegate Adaption" to (80), and "Fuel Open Loop" to (70).

Change all "Duty Bias" values to (50)

Got that log with the changes. Got kicked down to map 4 again. Codes 2A2C, 2C31, 2C2C, and 2C6A. No misfire this time I guess.

Went ahead with new upstream o2 sensors for both banks, probably gonna throw those in next weekend.

Fuel is 92. No 93 or E85 where I live.

Primary O2's on both banks replaced. Car pulls hard in map 2, didn't get safety'd in the few pulls that I did. Didn't get any codes. Looks like might still be having timing issues, I think I see a few significant drops in the pulls on the attached log. Is 92oct not enough for map 2 boost? Will try map 1.

Had to delete a bunch of nothing at the start of the log to make the file small enough, sorry about that.

Are you currently using a backend flash?

No I am not. I believe the previous owner was for a while, and removed it due to the o2 sensor issues.

Might be worth loading the PUMP BEF...

Biggest limitation is def. going to be octane, at least if you are wanting a bit more power.

WMI : ) ???

Thanks, been looking at BEF for a while but was putting it off until I could get the car to run right.

Would I want to use PUMP, PUMP_USA, or PUMP_USA_SCALAR .bin file, and why? Tried searching this and didn't find anything, maybe I didn't search hard enough.

WMI seems great but I think I've got to get used to the current power first. Coming from an E36 325i so the N54 is a lot for me, even when it was stuck on map 4 haha

Standard pump backend flash will work . Please upload another log once it is flashed. Thanks!

Got the BEF loaded and logs in map 2 and 5. Timing looks pretty bad on both. Makes sense (to me at least) for map 2 because boost target is higher with BEF, but map 5 seems to have worse timing and targeting lower boost than before the flash. Pretty sure it feels slower as well. Can't spring for WMI atm, would it be worth trying some kind of octane booster to see if that makes the car happier? Could also take a trip about an hour away to try a little ethanol.

Attached logs of map 2 and 5 with BEF and map 5 without.

Logs look fine. Timing is ok in both map 2 & 5.
