Smg trans doesn't bolt up to a n54,so the crank bolt/ flywheel will or may be different, are you sure the info is correct? Maybe a m54?

SMG is a VW transmission, hence the confusion. OP, did you mean DCT?

Maybe the seller got confused with smg used in earlier E36 and E46 M3s with dct ?

yes Im back , just got email reply from the shop selling the engine,

they reply stated: yes its was SMG , and he didnīt know what was needed to hook it up to a MT
This guy is clearly a deskjockey, but before I reply and ask him if he could possibly ask one of the mechanics, could anyone in here enlighten me?

Have them send you a picture of the engine and trans that should clear it up.

It's an n54 with an auto or dct trans wiring harness. I wouldn't sweat it. They don't know what they are talking about.

Yes. Only thing I would verify is 6 bolt or 8 bolt flywheel. Worst case you would need to change your flywheel.

DSG Is VW. SMG was the auto actuated single clutch manual gearbox before DCT.
