Default Flash Only to JB4 - 11-11-2021, 03:55 AM

Hi All,

Had a JB4 G5 ISO previously installed but decided to take off and go the flash only route.(I have Hybrid Turbos (17Ts) FBO and N20 3.5 Map Sensor now)

All OK but miss the functionality of the JB4 so wish to reinstall it.

Would the current flash work as a BEF once JB4 is back installed? Just set to 4/2 on the settings and away we go?

If yes - (hoping this is the case)

The map I have has the 3.5 TMAP dialed in as such. So would i be right in thinking just leave the JB4 setting to 0 or would i still need to change that to 1 (3.5MAP Installed) even though its already been dialed in to my flash?

Hope this helps and someone can help us answer this!

I‘m no expert, but in my own experience, for a full stand-alone flash, then 4/3 seems to work fine as the ‚custom‘ boost curve is recognized and can still be altered (e.g. using Map_6).

In 4/2 my Alpina N54 throws too many under & overboost tantrums. Maybe this is just a settings issue as 4/3 & 4/2 show different separations between DME_BT and ECU_psi … but no-one came across with an answer for that.

Good luck.

Personally, I'd probably use the BMS BEF as it's specifically designed to work with the JB4. Can you stick with your current flash...yes, but it won't cost you anything to try the BEF and you can always reload your original flash if you wish. If you decide to stick with the flash you have, then yes, set your TMAP to 0 but if you go with the BEF...as you know, switch it to 1.

Thanks for reply Steve much appricated.

Happy to use the JB4 BEF, but do you have one for Hybrids 17Ts on Pump Fuel? No meth etc. I run Super Unleaded - 99 Octane with think is like US 93 Octane?

And how can i upload the map? Just via laptop/tablet on the JB4 BMS USB Cable?

Thanks again.

The link provided will help you find the proper BEF for your hybrid 17T's. To flash the map, download the file to your phone or laptop/tablet, save the file to MHD app, and from the app you can then flash the map.

Cannon/Steve - thanks very much for both your help much appreciated.
Thanks for the links provided also. Good read!

Just to confirm also if was going to stick with the custom tune I have already flashed -
After reinstalling the JB4 would i need to set JB4 to 4/4? And then just run map 5 or something?

To be honest other option - edging towards buying MHD BEF JB4 License and loading the free BEFs and going that route also as both mentioned. Think ill be Hybrid Race BEF? As i use 99Ron pump fuel here in UK? Or do just use the PUMP one? (Couldnt see a hybrid pump one listed)

Thanks again!
