Repair questions -

I have a leak at the valve cover should I just change the gasket or is it worth it to change the entire cover with a new oe bmw one. I have both on hand in case the cover is cracked when i remove it. Also I plan on changing the rear shocks bmw wanted to change all the hardware and mounts when they gave me an estimate. Im not having them do the work I was there for an oil change. I figured the hardware can be used again I’m if the mounts look good why replace. 2008 335xi 73k

The valve cover is plastic so for sure better to refresh it, but if on budget and you sure valve cover not cracked then do the gasket,
For the rear shock, what you need the top mount as its mostly squeezed amd crashed, the lower mount it depends as I saw few that already stuck and cracked on the old shocks when shock pulled, dust cover and bump stop also will be toasted, those actually the hardware, you have 2 nuts and a seal rubber boot that comes on top under the top mount and 1 big washer, the rubber boot usually comes clean.
The OEM is bilstein shocks , make sure if yours the M sport or the regular and order accordingly, I wouldn't pay x3 the price to buy the BMW branded

I already bought the valve cover i just assume replace at this point when it’s off. The shocks I was going to go with the bilstein b6. I’ll have to order top and bottom mounts as well as the other parts, at least they will be on hand if I have to change.

I believe the B6 yellow comes with its own dust cover ( blue ) for the rear, in case it's with its own blue dust cover then you don't need the OEM dust cover
