Default Crazy buying an X5 (e70) with the n63 engine? - 01-06-2021, 09:19 AM

I'm looking at a 2013 X5 that has the V8TT engine (N63). Google shows all sorts of issues and a customer care package (CCP) approved by BMW to address the issues. It's really a recall without calling it a recall.

This is a certified pre-owned (CPO) car that has three more years remaining. So I'm covered for the three years but looking to keep the car 5-6 years. Is this purchase a bad idea? The list of items to be checked and replaced with the CCP is huge. On top of that the battery is supposed to be replaced with every oil change, which is crazy.

Advice from anyone with the same engine?VidMate Mobdro

If you can get a good price it's not crazy, but just be aware tuning is limited. A JB4 will add 40-50hp pretty easily. Beyond that not worth the headaches.

Who told you the battery gets replaced at every oil change? I've never heard of that. Thats just stupid. Usually the dealer will charge the battery at oil changes, but they never replace it.

What does a '20/'21 X5 M50i or M550i gain with just the 2 connections(not EWGs connected to the actuators)? I've heard quite a range. 50? 75?

Really depends on fuel being used but the gains are substantial even without EWG connectors. 60-80whp.
