I know there are a number of us and likely many more holding off on a JB4 purchase until it is available with all connections available(adapters).

I wouldn't hold off simply due to EWG connections. My M550i loves JB4.

Could you give a brief review. SOTP feel, Draggy if you have one. Thanks, love to hear all of your thoughts and experience with the JB4 so far.

Phaser,

I am sorry I have not returned your questions sooner. I do not have "draggy" and I am also still breaking in my car (only 500 miles on it so far) so I cant provide any real data at the moment, yes, I know how that sounds. Nor have I tried to launch.

I have not taken the car of 4k RPMS but when I do I am sure it will be fantastic.

I will say if I switch the JB4 to map 0 and then back to map 2 the driving experience is outstanding. TQ and power are just there.

I also upgraded to the V7 and hooked up the OBD2 cable for monitoring. I will say V7 is much more smooth over the code that came with the JB4.

I have not had any engine codes associated with the install of JB4 nor any other concerns after installation.

More to come but I hope this helps. Also, I was very pessimistic putting a tune on a brand new car but I after the install I am glad I did.

Zach

Appreciate the response Zach. Sounds like a worthwhile addition. I'm thinking it is now time for me to go ahead and get a JB4 for my '21 M50i, have been holding off. Keep us informed on your results and progress. I will post feedback when I am up and running with this tuner. Fun stuff! Scott

phaser,

Hey man. My personal goal is to get the car to 600hp or more. I have made friends with Gpower over here in Germany. Gpower has an ECU flash that can reach 610hp on stock parts or 670hp with high flow cats, a ***-back exhaust, and some high flow air filters. Because of the ECU lock, I will only go after the much better sounding (sport high flow ***-back) from Gpower. But right now, I am tricking out the car with some carbon fiber add on’s.

I am also waiting to place my order for my 2021 X5 M50i. When will these new 180 degree cables be finished for these kits? Seem we aren’t getting much info on a true timeline. Let us know please.

FYI; HeatSync now supports the 2021s for flash tuning. DMEs need to be sent in for unlocking, then they can OBD tune it.

I'm guessing that this is good news but not sure exactly what it means. Just not up to speed on all the tech and jargon involved here.

It means they can actually tune our computers instead of using piggybacks that fool them. Unfortunately it also means that before they can do that, we need to remove both computers and send them in for unlocking. That’s a massive negative for some of us. It basically means the cars would be down for around a week. If you have multiple cars, it’s no big deal. If you don’t, it’s a nuisance.
Like for me, I’m turning in the Equinox next week. I’ll be down to one car for a while. And since I don’t want to tune before BMW does the recall, who knows when/if I’ll be able to get it done.

I hear you Mike. I am happy with the bump from JB4 for now. I will give it a little more time in hopes of a easier option for a flash tune. Question: does JB4 simply up boost to provide more power or are any other parameters ajusted to create power gains?

As far as I can tell, at least in Map 1, it’s just spoofing the TMAPs to increase boost. That may change with the OBD2 hooked up in other Maps. Somebody at Burger would have to confirm.

The main parameters for power are boost/air, fuel and timing. We can move the boost one around with JB4, the other two follow along based on established ECU logic only.

If you add more boost with Jb4 than the car is happy with it gets hot and pulls out timing, at best leaving you net neutral on power increases after that point of pull back, at worst leaning out the fuel supply.

The car that makes the most power is the one that adds the most fuel to the most air with the most timing advance before it melts.

Glad to hear that the JB4 is working or you. Do you have the OBD port cable connected?

Oh yes, I have had the OBD plugged in the entire time I have had Map2 selected. Again, no errors or check engine lights. I need to get some logs on it though... Santorini is keeping me from that at the moment.
