Default G70 3.3T feels slower with intakes - 09-06-2021, 07:41 AM

Hey Guys,

Iím new to the forum, first post here. That said Iím pretty mechanically inclined and have done some custom tuning myself on serval Evos and DSMs back in the day.

I just installed my JB4, EWG Connectors, Mobile setup, Denso Spark plugs (gapped at .022), and BMS Intakes (all part of the 450whp kit).

I did NOT connect the optional fuel wires because Iím waiting for the PNP harness to be off back-order.

Iíve tried MAP2 (running 93oct), and then went back to MAP1 to be safe since I donít have AFR control right now. I even tried MAP0 disabling the JB4. I can say MAP1 does feel better than MAP0, so I know itís working. BUT - the car doesnít seem to feel like it has the same level of torque it did prior to the install. If I step on it from a dig, it actually feels slower than prior to the install I think.

What should I be seeing for boost on a 3rd gear pull? Seems to only be hitting 14-15psi or so, which Iíd guess is low.
Secondly, will intakes with A/F control actually lose power?

Thanks!

Some adaption is required but for any tuning advice you'll have to post up JB4 logs to compare. There is no situation where intakes make less power than factory.

Thanks @Terry! Iím not sure if this is enough information. I did one quick second gear pull on the ride home and thatís about all that is captured in this log.

Please let me know if this is sufficient to get started. Thanks!

Good little pull through a few gears here. MAP0, EWG and fuel off.

We actually need to see a Map1 or Map2 log. If you aren't *feeling* boost the log will tell all. We can't ascertain anything from Map0 except what your baseline looks like.

Understood. What Iím getting at is with MAP0, I should essentially be bone stock other than the intakes being installed. Since I didnít have access to a Dyno before and after, I only have the butt Dyno to reference, iím just saying that the car feels slower. Iím wondering if just a quick post of the logs, if anybody says anything glaringly strange. For instance, Iím not sure what I should expect to see for boost, etc.

Thanks

No problem, do proper logs on map 0, 1, and 2 for comparison. Short logs in 2nd gear aren't going to tell us much, especially when both the logs you posted are on map 0. Maybe that's the issue and you're not actually putting it on another map?

For proper review and the JB4 to adapt, please do logs in 3rd or 4th gear from 2K rpms to redline at wide open throttle.

So, flashed MAP1 back on the car. Drove the car easy for 15-20 mins and gave it one good rip. Felt awesome! So… I guess for now, we’ll consider this case closed. Thanks for offering to help.
