Default C8 Corvette Stingray dyno testing - 01-13-2022, 09:41 AM

Was able to borrow a local customers C8 Corvette Stingray for a few days to evaluate the possibility of making a tuning device for them.

It's naturally aspirated so that effectively limits what we can do to adjusting air/fuel ratios and timing advance. We got air/fuel control working first as that was the easiest and strapped it down.

Bone stock on 91 octane it made around 429whp peak. Before we changed any tuning we decided to add a couple gallons of E85 to be sure we're not working around any knock retard, effectively making the 91 similar to 93 octane. We were pleased to see how much power jumped across the board from the change, hitting a peak of 447whp.

Then we spend a couple hours trying different air/fuel ratios. We expected running it leaner would add more power, but to our surprise, it didn't help. We've included a sample leaner run in the dyno chart just for comparison.

Next up we need to find a way to manipulate ignition advance. And next time we have a C8 on the dyno we'll probably also do a few runs with a richer than factory air/fuel mix on straight 91 to see if that offers any gains.

We're not currently sponsors on corvette forum but if anyone is a reader there and wants to cross post it would help us gauge if there is even any demand for an inexpensive easy to install/remove C8 tuning device.

Pretty surprised that leaning out didn't help make more power, I wonder if it's a DI thing.
