Default Log review request: f30 EWG N55 with BM3 BEF - 07-17-2019, 04:07 PM

4th gear pull map 6, bit 6 enabled. E30 blend. BEF is BM3 Stage 2 E30 map. Stock plugs and gap. Mods in sig. 97 degrees and humid out.

Not hitting target very well. Probably the POS VRSF CP.

Also, is there any benefit to adding on the EWG patch cable when running a BEF?

Second log. Higher target. Definitely thinking there a boost leak now.

hmm- possible leak, but you are stock turbo.

Try bumping your DB from 4k to redline up 10- see if that gets you ANY closer.

Default JB4 EWG with BEF. Rail Pressure Code?? - 07-19-2019, 12:37 PM

Map 6 targeting 19psi
E30 Flash 93 octane

FOL set to 0
No EWG patch wire
WOT logs are looking great
Bit 6 enabled

I have been noticing a rather harsh misfire during part throttle/high load situations ever since I installed the JB4 a couple days ago. I caught it in a log. Iím also getting a ďRail Pressure Sensor Short to GroundĒ code (119002). Only happens when the JB4 is active. Map 0 drives smooth as it always has with the BM3 flash. Is it really possible my sensor has all of a sudden gone bad? Seems a little ironic to me having just installed the JB4. Also, I know setting FOL to zero basically bypasses the FF wires. Could this setting have anything to do with the code? Could I just unplug the FF wires all together?

The data group at the end of the log is where I felt the fuel cut or misfiring.

Is the fuel pressure connection installed? Was it a new JB4? Normally that fault is electrical meaning an issue with the fuel pressure connector itself.

Yes. The flex fuel wires are installed. Double checked the flex fuel connections today, all are fully seated. Used JB4 from a member on here.

Is it safe to run the JB4 without the FF wires to see if the issue still happens without the FF wires? It’s just weird that it’s not happening on map 0 what so ever.

2-4th gear WOT log and a 5th gear half pull. Installed fresh 95706 plugs gapped at .022 this morning. Canít figure out why this thing wonít hold target. Timing is solid, trims are solid. What gives?

2-4th gear WOT log and a 5th gear half pull. Installed fresh 95706 plugs gapped at .022 this morning. The part throttle stutter I previously felt seems to still be present bad not as bad it seems. Iíve ordered a new rail pressure sensor from Rock Auto. Should arrive on Wednesday. Will install it and report back. Canít figure out why this thing wonít hold target. Timing is solid, trims are solid. What gives?

Can either Dave or Terry confirm if EWG wires are required/needed when running a BEF like I am such as a BM3 E30 OTS Map??

More on the adventures of stacking the JB4 with a BM3 BEF. On Map 6, I made all the boost targets zero. Now Map 6 performs like Map 0 with absolutely zero hiccups or misfire feel at part throttle. Changed it to Map 4 to see if the hiccup/misfire would occur on that map and it did like previously.

Something is up with a setting in the JB4 or something. Doesn't make sense why a zero'd out Map 6 is smooth like Map 0 but Map 4 which is suppose to be like Map 0 but with CANBUS active correct?

That's really odd...

So just for clarification the BEF is custom from BM3, or is it our OTS?

Regardless- 6 shouldn't perform like 0.

Let me shoot this over to Terry for review.

The BEF is a BM3 E30 OTS map. Map 6 performs like Map 0 because I changed all the target PSI RPM windows to 0 psi. So essentially, Map 6 acts like Map 0 with data logging and CANBUS active.

Bit 6 is enabled

I would run Map 4 but it gives me a weird hiccup/misfire at part throttle like Map 6 did before I changed the psi targets to 0.

Would be great to get this sorted out. Probably could be sorted out in a 2 minute phone call LOL.

Received and installed new fuel rail pressure sender. No change. Maps 4 and 6 still hiccup/stutter at part throttle. If I change all the boost targets to 0 on Map 6, it drives like Map 0 with absolutely no hiccup/stutter at part throttle.

Terry, you out there?????

As it's a used system who really knows. Maybe the board itself is faulty on that output? Or a wire is damaged on the DB25 for the output?

Just leave fuel pressure connection off if it's causing issues. With a BEF No real need for it anyway.

Sounds good Terry, Iíll remove the FF connectors to see if that fixes the stutter Iím getting at part throttle. Are the EWG add on wires needed with a BEF as well? Does method 1 for meth trigger work on Map 0?

The EWG is suggested as it allows the JB4 to raise or lower WGDC dynamically. But if you're just trying to hunt down a problem rolling backwards to a known good point is normally how you'd isolate something.
