Thumbs down M240i JB4 maps 3 and 5 - 05-01-2018, 12:21 PM

Hi all,

Iíve been looking online for information about which maps are suitable for the M240i on Ron99 (no other mods) and Iím coming up blank!

Iíve been doing logs for the past week or so on Map 5 and 3, I hit around 17-17.5psi of boost at 4500rpm but the car seems to be holding back and the power delivery isnít smooth after that point, and when I dynoíd it today it showed the same. Instead of a nice gradual power curve, when it got to 4500 the power was up and down to the red line.

Iíve been told by a few people to run absolute maps, but I donít know what settings to use for custom map 6 and the settings I have seen online are all over the place.

Others have said my logs look fine but I could dial back the boost but I canít see a way of doing that unless I run map 2 (might as well of kept my jb+) or a custom map 6...

Iíve seen the custom map 6 settings posted here, but 17psi from 2000rpm seems extreme, and contrast to other map 6 where people build the boost increasing .5 per 500rpm.

Some definitive knowledge on the B58 would be good...

Thanks

Iíve attached a couple of logs.

Both done on Map 3 +6psi of boost on 99ron fuel (Tesco Momentum) and the latest JB4 firmware with EWG and Fuel sensor harness.

Itís the throttle drops after the Trims get high and always at 4500 at 17+ boost that bothers me... sometimes the throttle dips, other times on the logs it doesnít. Itís worth noting it doesnít feel like itís pulling back during the run.
But dips in the power at 4500 are consistent with what I saw on the dyno today...

Any explanation. Would be good. Thanks

Please install the EWG and FF wires and try my settings. You will be much happier and be running much safer AFR's, especially with the M240 factory flash.

If you want to know how to run a tapered absolute curve, there are currently 2 methods: Map 6 or Map 7 (w/ meth disabled/ignored). On E25 I am running a 15-20 meth additive (without running meth). This is about a 16-17 PSI peak curve. Very fun and safe for a daily driver.

Adding in the EWG connector will give you a lot more flexibility in controlling WGDC which can tune out the throttle closure, especially if the car has bolt on mods installed.

Morning

I have the EWG wires installed as well as the FF wires.. unless there is anything I need to enable on the JB4 to make them work?

Iíve seen Bullitts settings... a flat 17psi all through the Rev range with no 1,2,3rd gear limiting?

Wouldnít you expect to bulld the psi and taper off?

Also Bullits post says he’s Duty Bias is 0 across, but the default values are nothing like that if the Map 6 has been set up correctly as per Terry’s default values.

Hey Terry, back in the earlier N55 dev days, you guys documented that you need the FF wires installed in order to use the EWG connector. Is this still the case? Seems like if EWG controls the duty cycle then it could work independently, but I am no expert!

Normally to run higher boost levels fuel pressure control is needed, but all N55 harnesses have included the fuel pressure wires for years now. It's simply a matter of plugging it in if you have not already.

Thanks for the quick reply - I was specifically talking about the B58 harness, which does not include the FF or EWG wires. Can you use the EWG wire to control duty cycles without buying and installing the FF wire as well?

Usually you would want to do both. They compliment each other because if you didn't need the fuel you wouldn't need the EWG wires vice versa.
