Ugh. This info has been available forever. Don't worry, you'll still make money from the 17 year olds that think going backwards in time is cool since they are unlikely to be smart enough to do it themselves.

Update: I've had this "ghost cam" mod on my 1er for about 24 hours. I noticed that when letting the car idle for to long (over 5min) it will throw multiple misfire codes in any random cylinders. Also get "0000 Unknown Fault"x2 codes. As mentioned before, this should only be used for car events and the occasional showing off. It's not something people should run all the time.

Now I'm not advocating this mod, how is a real, lopey cam "going back in time?"

Because lope is due to overlap. Overlap is a thing for high revving n/a motors. Ever since the invention of vvt, you can run as much overlap as you want in the mid and high end, whilst retaining a mild cam profile at idle. This is basically the equivalent to all the bad things about a big cam in an old muscle car with none of the good.

But hey, if they like it, let them eat cake.

Mine is making the same noise as @idratherbesurfing
Raised idle speed to 950 rpm, helped some, but i'd still be embarassed to pull in a parking lot at a car show with it on. The knocking noise is noticable as hell from the outside

If youre MT its your clutch. Hold down the clutch see if the noise is still there

Initially when I heard this sound I thought it was the clutch and then I thought to myself a stock clutch wouldn't chatter like that. Well, you were right. I raised my idle and started the car up and it was still chattering so I held in my clutch and the noise went away completely I rev the car up crazy while holding the clutch and there's no noise.

Thanks. Anyone experiencing noise hopefully you have a manual transmission just push in the clutch and hold it

I mean yeah that got rid of it, but I'm not going to sit in my car with my foot clutch just so people don't hear that annoying knocking noise.

Just not worth it for me I guess. It was cool for one snap chat video, but thats the extent of it

I will agree with that I don't want to hold my clutch down everywhere I go but I will say after I held the clutch down for a little bit I took my foot off and it wasn't there so it seems like a hit and miss thing. Whenever it starts to chat or just hold your clutch down for a few seconds and let off

More of a way to troll ricers tbh.
Pulled into a local car meet last night and no one had a ****ing clue.
Just kept asking me what cams I had or if my car was an m3 with a 335i badge.

Took it off after that.
It's really pointless lol
