JB4 Not Connecting After Handshake??? -
08-03-2020, 04:02 AM
I just installed my JB4 on a 2013 BMW 750i, very easy installation, no ground wire.
After starting the engine I try to connect....it gets to the "HandShake" then an error message? Anyone ever have this problem?
Also, I'm using a new iPhone, the JB4 is not listed on the Bluetooth list?

Same issue here but mine doesn't say anything about the hardware just that it can't complete the connection, I see the JB4 in my bluetooth on my phone and using a bluetooth scanning app so not sure what it is. Tried it on 3 phones.

Same here. Happened after attempts to update firmware to N20_OBDII_EWG_8_T2.hex

I also have this issue once I tried to update firmware, then my car wouldn’t run with the Jb4 connected. I’ve been advised that at worst I’ll have to buy a new chip. I need to learn a bit more about the Jb4 before I try and use it again. Hopefully someone finds an easy fix

Same here. New JB4, after updating firmware, car is in limp mode.
Can no longer connect v to the JB4.
I basically have a $1000 ($CAD) electronic brick sitting in my garage.
So frustrating.
Why would you have to buy a new chip? isn't it on warranty?

Just received a new chip today. 1 day overnight service to Canada!
Plugged it in and everything works perfectly.

New chip installed car feels good again, however gauges on my phone aren’t working. Only got the Jb4 3.7 connected and not the obd cable connected as I took everything of. Will fitting the obd cable allow the gauges to work on the phone again. I can swap maps via the phone
Thanks

Yes, you need the OBD cable for the gauges to function.

really? Oh that's disappointing, I thought the main point of the bluetooth interface was for logging and stuff without the cable

Nope. The OBD cable from the JB4 has to be connected too. The Bluetooth adapter is to show the values got from the OBD port in the app.

What can you do without it connected, just bluetooth alone?

Before I reconnected the OBD connection, the car map didn’t feel as smooth although this could of been a placebo effect.
To be honest I thought the Bluetooth got rid of the need for putting cables into the car, however the cables back in and I can just forget about it.

I don’t think you can change maps either since, without the OBD cable, it basically only runs on map 1? That’s what I read somewhere. But I could be very wrong.
