jgklim's JB4 Build -
02-25-2019, 03:34 PM
Hello JB4 community!
Very excited to be using this system. I've started this thread to document my journey/build with JB4.
I'll add to this thread content like photos, logs, and experiences as I go
Introduction:
2018 Civic Sport CVT, I won't elaborate on the cosmetics for now
From Canada, B.C.: which means the weather is either like this...

or this...
Mar 2019
I got a package in the mail...
Didn't get any pics of the finished install, but...
The intake is great! Really improves the engine and turbo sounds!
Throttle is definitely more responsive...as I mash it repeatedly

March 2019
Idle values look like this
Until I actually get some good pulls, here are some baselines for map 1:
1st - Idle, slightly warmed up
2nd - On and Off
If trim scaling is correct, idling at 35 is spot on at 0%, and in the 2nd log i'm dancing around 3-5% under load.
Question: Is there a parameter for CVT trans temperature?

Possibly It was 170 yuan for the cover when I bought it. I used superbuy.com as an agent and also purchased SEDAN seat covers to make the shipping more worthwhile. Cost me overall 450 yuan for both items, then duties
The sedan covers fit the rear bench, but not the back seat. It needs some trimming and adjustments

Intake updates
Having installed the intake first... I haven't gotten a chance to log with the stock intake.

It looks and sounds so good!
After about a week of using the intake and looking at logs, I think my trims1/trims2 are sitting a little high.
Correct me if I'm wrong:
If 25=0%, and 50=33%
Then each (1 trim unit) in the log is = (33%)/(delta25) = 1.32%

Map 2 Pull: My trims2 being 32 or 33 (+7/+8) means I've got about +9.24% to +10.56%. Feels high
Is this something that should be adjusted? Looking at the new SI intake and the resulting trims (spot on!), I wonder if I've done something wrong to get the lean trims.
A Type R on these forums is also getting around 25 for trims.
Edit: I wonder if this is due to "up to 10%" ethanol in the Chevron 92 I filled with
Attached: Map 2 pull - gotta start logging in lower RPMs

Map 2 and LTFT
Pull in Map 2 - Seeking check before Moving to Map 3!
Following my previous inquiry - Found that after putting in some 94, trims went down
- Finding that when changes of fuel is detected, avg ign goes up. I suppose to adjust to new fuel
- It takes about a day or two (driving 30-50 km) to go back to 4.9
I figure this means half-filling tanks/filling more often means that the car has to adjust more often.
Ethanol does affect trims: making the car "think" to add more fuel
Next question: When to stop adding boost (Upping maps)? How can we be "safe" with the CVT? Is it avg_ign? Any other indicators? What about long-term?

I have no doubt the presets are safe. BMS also has a cvt which they developed with. That being said, I run map 3 most of the time and my experience has been positive. It's been about half a year, and no problems.
If you want to get supporting mods, an intercooler may help

Our CVT is still pulling hard with zero issues. We switch between 91 octane map1 and E30 map3.
