Default Log Review please - HUGE throttle cuts - 07-08-2019, 06:21 PM

TL;DR Car is stock, fuel is ~e30, ambient temps are high. How do the logs look?

So I'm kinda new to all this, but I have read a lot about what all the parameters mean and what adjustments are available.

2011 e90 335i AT; Was my fiancé's daily for two years, now it's gonna be my track toy ^_^

I live in AZ so ambient temps are between 80 - 110F this time of year. I think these logs are all morning runs though.

Everything is stock except for a charge pipe cuz the stock one popped. I have the BMS intake but it's not currently installed. Down-pipe and FMIC are ordered, but the intercooler won't be here until August. I'm also going to do NGK 97506's and new coils but am having a hard time finding the plugs for a decent price.

Fuel is 91/e85 blend, at most it's e30 assuming max ethanol in both fuels. In actuality it's probably much less.

I'm mainly interested to know where I am at now log-wise and what I should be looking for in the future. Primary concern is the huge throttle dips right when boost comes on, I know the throttle is used to help control boost levels but this seems excessive. Also the AFR looks kinda lean at lower RPMs, I adjusted FOL but that only seems to affect the top end. Lastly the virtual ethanol reading is way off, I tried adjusting the offset but it doesn't seem to have changed anything. I read somewhere that the ethanol reading really only matters for PI though, is that true?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Logs look typical for N55. Throttle behavior is normal.

Thanks Vorsprung! Any advice on what mods might help reduce the need to pull so much throttle? I've seen logs on here where throttle never dips below 90-95..

Doing a back end flash would fix this. Another thing you might want to do is some duty bias tuning, as it looks like you're under target. Someone at BMS can help with that.

On N55 the throttle is used to control boost, as you said.

The throttle is usually nearly fully open during spool, then as it approaches target it will pull back sharply and then re-align to fine-tune boost. N54 does something similar to control surge from the initial spool up (if it occurs), but tends to prefer fully open throttle after that. Unless you are having a smoothness issue or power cut as a result you probably don't need to do anything.

The car does feel good so I guess I'll stop being paranoid lol. I am going to look into a BEF in the future once I have everything and go FBO. Thanks guys!
