Default Ethanol limit on the TU3? - 10-14-2021, 01:45 PM

Its time. 5k miles, 1 year. Factory fill oil is gone. Time to install the JB4 and make some big numbers.

So, what are we looking at for ethanol percentage on the N63B (TU3)? Has this been tested yet? I know stock BMW says we can use up to E25, which i do most of the time. What about with the JB4? Theres no flex-fuel connector like the N5x's have, so how exactly does the DME deal with ethanol? And better question, does it really matter without the wastegate connectors, or is wastegate adjustment not influenced by ethanol?

You can go to E20 right off the bat on stock ECU control. I'm running E10 at the moment with little movement in fuel trims.

I’m thinking E30 may be too much. The motor isn’t running smooth. It’s noticeably vibrating. I’d love to post a log, but I’m waiting to hear back from Donnie on a Connect kit not owned error.

As always, it really comes down to what the logs look like. Upload a current log, let us know what the current fuel is, and we can go from there. Wastegate has nothing to do with it. It's all about the trims and what your fuel system can support on the actual power you're currently making.

Open the fuel flap, it tells you there what the car is happy with. I personally would keep it to E20 or below as you have maxed out the fuel trims. Also its better to ramp up the E over each fill to avoid leaning out as the trims adjust slowly.

Log is good. Terry checked it yesterday. I updated the JB4 firmware and it smoothed everything out. Trying to find an AWD dyno to get some numbers and a longer log.

BTW: Anybody know of a low temp oil cooler t-stat for the N63? I'm not thrilled with 240į+ oil temps.

Different pumps. We actually have 2 HPFP's, one for each bank, and both are different part numbers than the B58 ones..

I personally would run a while longer to let the ECU catch up with you Ethanol mix. Those trims are still high each time you go full throttle. That's just my opinion however.

Okay, I'll stay on 1. I'm not gonna go up unless the car is ready for it.

Default E85 - 10-25-2021, 11:37 PM

Honestly guys Iíve been putting 5 gallons of E85 mixed with 93 octane when the weather is good, and been running it on map5. Notice a difference for sure but never logged it or really even know what to see in the log.

Just wanted to let you know havenít had any problems.

You are mixing E20 - 25 which is expected by the ECU. Its when you double that concentration and right away start beating on the throttle problems occur.
