Hey Terry I'm wanting to start doing a little more aggressive tuning on my F56 Mini. How do I get my hand on the flex fuel connector for our cars?

You'll just grab the FF connecter off the N55 page on our site. Include a comment to attach a DSUB pin to the second wire so it can attach to the B48 harness.

today installed stage1 firmware update. I realized that excessive pressure variation was almost imperceptible. I do not know if it was the software of the ff connector or something else that made the most stable acceleration. may be able to increase boost without gearbox emergency.

Have you done any logs on the new firmware before altering it?

has no way to make logs. I'm using a mini ipad to monitor some parameters. use the DashCmd connected via OBD2. today already checked the lambda and fuel trim. fully within the limits that Terry signaled. My big problem is the limit that the gearbox requires. in your case can not be this limiter.

I would caution against pushing Stage 1 too far. We'll need a JB4 to really maximize the platform IMHO.

1. So to alter the boost on our Stage1 we use the boost failsafe box and map 3? 2. Do the boxes to the left next to the RPM's do anything for us?
3. Connecting the Flexfuel adapter do we also use pin position 21?
4. When running the Flexfuel adapter what settings should I Adjust?
Thanks in advance.

Map 0: Fully disables tuner
Map 1: Pump gas performance map
for the FF there are two wires. One going to the male pin and one to the female. Plug the male pin in to spot #21 on the DB25. Plug the female pin in to spot #20. Then connect the sensor to the fuel rail.
Ajustments
Boost failsafe 6.5psi
Wastegate 2
Fuel open loop 50
40% ethanol
60% gas

This is all that I can find about using different maps with BMS Stage1
Map guide for newer G3_V2 Stage1 systems: Map 0: Bypass map, system completely disabled Map 1: Normal performance map. Adds +4psi over stock regardless of "Boost Failsafe PSI" setting under user adjustment. Map 2: Not currently used. Map 3: User adjustable map. Adds a user defined amount of boost over stock. That boost level is defined under the "Boost Failsafe PSI" box under user adjustment. For example a setting of 3.0 will result in approximately 3psi peak over stock.

Walked about 100 miles on the road. I noticed that the fuel trim, compared to that seen previously, showed much lower values. Before I saw the peaks of + 30 ~ 40%, added the long and short trim values. Now no more than 10%. As previously reported, disappeared pressure hesitation at the start of acceleration. Lambda, still very lean, but as the OEM, close to 13.3 at WOT. The improvement was impressive. congratulations.
I'll take to the Dyno this coming week. I want to check if there was any loss of power and torque. I believe the Stage1 still accept a slight pressure increase and would use a small addition of ethanol. E50 maybe!

That sounds awesome. I can't wait to see the Dyno numbers. Does the Stage1 still do its thing as far as what BMS intended it to do if we alter the BOOST levels in the failsafe?

10-13 over the base I mean. But more boost means earlier detonation right? I'm a carbureted jeep guy so I need things spelled out, sorry....

JCW Tuning Kit plus Stage 1 -
05-07-2015, 06:19 AM
Has there been any testing with the Stage 1 on a B46 with the JCW Tuning Kit? I'm also curious now much concern there would be doing that with the sport auto transmission.

Boost looks OK but the Stage1 can't log timing or AFR, which we'd want to determine if those higher settings are actually safe. It's probably fine, though.
