Are my expectations realistic? -
06-09-2016, 08:36 AM
Hey guys, newbie here. I am about ready to drop some serious cash to buy these mods for my X1 Xdrive35i:
1). JB4-Type B harness + USB cable
2). ER chargepipe
3). ******* ******** (n54 tuning?)
4). ER Intercooler
5). Pure Stage 2 Turbo
6). N55 PURE High Flow Inlet Pipe
7). N55 Diverter Upgrade DV(Plus)
Would these mods allow me to get to the 420-450whp range on 94 octane pump gas (no E85)? My car is my daily driver thus I want to run it conservatively on Map2 or Map6 with target max boost at 15 PSI.
Thanks in advance

Is meth out of the question? Running a PS2 turbo without additional fueling is a bunch of cash for not maxing the unit out. Maybe put port fuel on top? Regardless I think you need a bigger fuel pump. Hopefully Steve will chime in. I have the stock turbo maxed out at 19.5psi on e65 making only 20 or 30 less whp than your goal.

Yes, I think that's realistic from what I've read and seen other people do on N55 F-series with PS2 turbo and pump gas. You'll make more power with PS2 @15psi than stock turbo @15psi.
I would recommend the Bluetooth Connect kit over the USB cable though.

Yes, but he'll be doing it on pump gas and less boost than you. Less boost and more power is always a good thing.
If he wants to do some extra fuel later he has room to grow.
I see no problem with his logic if his goal is to have a ~430hp car that pulls all the way to redline and does it with less boost than we can on stock turbo.

The mods you have listed will definitely support those power goals.
For fueling, it depends on which year the X1 is and which HPFP it has. If it is one of the new HPFP's, it may not be able to keep up, you'll have to see. But that is also provided the fuel has enough octane to support those power levels, all we have access to is 91 octane and it's horrible, so we don't have an data on those types of power levels on pump gas.

94 octane gas would be about E20 if you were blending.

hmm, i thought the E84 X1 uses E series components. My X1 is a 2014 model... I will get the car built first then when i am playing around with Map 6, then i will know if I will run into any fueling issues.
Just want to let everyone know i have just purchased the mods. I will probably go FBO first to make sure things work out before installing the PS2 turbos. Thanks everyone for the help!

You may be able to tell by checking realoem - possibly the same HPFP part no?

hey guys,
I would really appreciate some help here. I have decided to install all the mods in one go. What map should i run to make sure things are working properly? Can I just use Map5 and log?

I always start with map 4 for a first few logs then Map 5, but yeah map 5 should be ok just make sure you log alot. I generally use it to map custom map 6's.

thanks. Another question. I still have JB4 at home right now. Should i clip the diode now to prepare for flashing to the ISO firmware? Can I not flash to to ISO firmware after clipping the diode?

Clip the diode and then install and update to the iso firmware. Hpfp in X1 can't handle high e85 levels, but you can run pump gas ato 18psi peak levels. Get the n20 tmap to run map 1 or 2 and hold more boost to redline or make custom map 6 after you test and log to make sure all is installed and no boost leaks.

Sorry I'm not particularly familiar with iso jb4 stuff in particular as I'm an F series owner and have never worked on E series iso jb4's in terms of tuning.

Thanks for the reply! In BC Canada, there's no E85 around. I am only planning to run pump gas. As you said, i am planning to make my custom Map 6 after i have made sure things are installed properly.

No worries man. I will hold off on flashing to ISO. Gonna drive for a while on Map2 to enjoy the nice power increase from stock before I look for more power!

Hey guys,
I just got a call from my shop. They said the charge pipe i have ordered does not fit my X1. I thought all N55 charge ***** are the same? Could someone please help? I will be picking up my car today after work... I guess i will have to run the stock charge pipe for now.
This is the charge pipe i have ordered for my car:
N55 E-Series 2011+ ER Charge Pipe (N55Z1)
http://www.n54tuning.com/n55-2011-er-charge-pipe.html
Thanks!

realoem says that all the E-Series (E82, E84, E90) all use the same charge pipe
did your shop offer specifics about fitment?
maybe DIY, it's not that hard, just fiddly

That's the CP I run - no problems with fitting on a 2011 E series.

My shop made a mistake, everything fits... I just got my car back. Holy **** it feels almost as fast as my E63 M6! It feels like a completely different car! Right now I will just leave JB4 on Map 5...
I will post a log in the support section to see if there are any issues.
