Terry, if I have not yet down loaded the latest 4/22 firmware. Then would it be more safer and better to stay with map 1 or would map 5 give me an overall better performance regardless. Also, please can some one point me in the direction of a good dyno result posted online that compares Map 1 vs stock.

I can't wait to have some time off so I can down load the latest firmware.

Last but not least my experience with JB4 so far has been awesome....great job Terry....keep it up

After waiting for months I finally put the order in. But it was too late and I had to go back to Tampa to study for my boards while my JB4 is waiting for me at home. And I don't get to go home till July. All I can do is read the forums for reviews. This sucks.

Hey concentrate on your boards cause that is way more important then JB4 for right now.

When you get back the JB4 will be even better with Terry's newer firmware upgrades

Best of luck on your Boards Bro

I thought that was the whole idea.

FAST CAR = BAD MPG.

I think Terry may have taken the 'conservative' out of map 5 cause it does seem a little more responsive especially down low. Maybe cause it getting cooler here in AUS it running a little better.

.hex is a program language conveying binary information for programming microcontrollers and EPROMS.

Lots of hexidecimal numbers and addresses in a text file.

terry will have to answer that. Ive never acutally used .hex. I just remember talking about it in one of my engineering classes in college a few years back. Most likely it re-programs or flashes the microcontroller built into the JB4.

HEX is the format we post JB4 firmware updates in. The latest firmware HEX is in the first post.

When you guys go in for service/warranty, do you remove the USB cable also when removing the JB4 box? Or do you kind of tuck it inside the foot well and ECU? Cause honestly, installing the USB cable is more of a PITA then the actual JB4 box lol.

Don't give a reason for them to go snooping and lock your glovebox

I leave mine in because I agree, I'd hate to run that again and again etc. When I had my HPFP replaced I got some greif about using a piggy back tuner. At first they even said that a tech had seen the tuner (had to stop myself from saying "no way he saw it, I removed it myself before I came in" lol).

I played dumb asking what that was etc and asked why they thought I'd have such a device. The service person then said that a tech had simply discovered an 'ancillary cable' in the ECU compartment. I just said that I used this to connect a diagnostics tool from time to time. No big deal.

The dealer was actually really cool about it, saying that the only reason they asked was that they didn't want to mess up my tuner while reprogramming the ECU software etc.

In the end it depends on how lame your service department is. Of course it's always safest to remove everything. Really though, there's nothing wrong with having a cable ran to the compartment. But if you want to keep them from asking questions, or have any qualms with telling some white lies about not having a tune...

I almost ran the USB cable but I got lazy when I did the JB4 install. I'm glad that I didn't now because it appears that my glove box actuator has gone out (again) so I can't open the glove box. If I had run the cable I probably would have to explain the USB cable when they fixed the glove box.

My USB cable is hidden under the front of the floor mat. Who would remove my floor mats? To vacuum maybe but I doubt they'll go the extra to get that clean. They just do exterior wash anyways.
