Terry sent me this a few days ago and I've never gotten around to figuring out how to flash it via Bluetooth vs a forum link like this. Thanks :-)

Attached my file and it uploaded just like on the YouTube video. Sent more logs on Map 1, 92 octane only, sport/manual shifting mode, ///M power mode. Fingers crossed for more positive results :-)

I haven't updated mine yet, but assume I can just do it over the Android app (has function for it), plugged into JB4 with the cable. Otherwise I'll drag the laptop out.

Maybe start a log thread in the Support forum > http://n54tech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=35

I did mine over Bluetooth, took like 5 min, I reset the phone and ran some logs. Terry said it looks good so now I'm waiting for what he'd like me to do next.

Like my own JB4 X5M logging thread? I'd assume there are maybe only a handful of us S63 owners on here, so unless N54 drivers can comment, it seems easier to just keep sending the logs to Terry, no?

Yeah I did mine this morning - used the Android app on an S7 Edge plugged into JB4 with USB - it was a breeze.

If you post a log thread (here's mine > http://n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45087 ) Steve@BMS might also take a look? Up to you.

Of interest, the firmware version number for this update is the same as what was shipped with my JB4 (initial release)?

Per your advice, I've created my own thread as well.

Adding the How-To I posted on another forum for routing JB4 into X5M cabin.

Tools Needed
- 13mm Socket
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Hex bit (I used a T15-H torx bit)
- Metal Coathanger
- Electrical Tape
- Torch

1. Follow the steps in this post to access your DME box and remove the cover.

The next step is for RHD - unsure if same for LHD.
2. In the passenger footwell, remove the plastic panel under the glovebox by taking out the three phillips screws along the front. Once the screws are out, you can gently pull the panel down and forward to remove. Be careful not to pull too far without unplugging the footwell light cable.

3. Under the panel you'll see some ducting which will have to come out to get better access to the firewall. Remove these two torx bits and pull the ducting down. You're trying to get to the spot indicated below. Also noted are two of the three phillips screws removed earlier.

Head back into the engine bay.
I used the opportunity to swap out the "buried wire" approach for a proper fused piggyback supply for the JB4 (fleabay).

4. At the back of the DME box, you'll see a round opening approximately 30mm ID. You'll use this large opening to get the USB plug through to the cabin.

5. Grab your metal coat hanger and straighten out. I like to fold over each end to make a curved point (rather than a sharp point) which is easier to push over square edges, and allows you to twist to rotate from the other end. Make a gentle curve in one end and push this down and into the 30mm opening in the rear of the DME box. Push and twist to gently negotiate as far into the opening as you can.
6. Head back around to the passenger footwell and pull back the carpet and large cable loom. You should be able to see the end of your coathanger poking through.

7. Back in the engine bay, if your JB4 module is outside the DME box, route your USB through a spare grommet - I used the one I'd already passed the JB4 wires through earlier (22). Once into the box, thread the USB wire around/under any cables to keep it neat before taping the plug onto the end of the coathanger.

8. In the passenger footwell, pull the coathanger gently through the opening - the plug may need some help getting around the bend, but you can get your fingers in there fairly easily. Once the cable is through, reverse the procedure above to close up your DME box.
9. To allow easy access to the USB cable, push the small panel out that is in the middle of the large plastic footwell cover you removed earlier, and thread the USB down and out of the panel hole.
10. Replace the ducting removed earlier with the two torx screws.
11. Reposition the footwell plastic cover, plugging the footwell light back in, and secure with the three phillips screws.
12. Coil up your USB cable and place inside of the small hatch before snapping the cover back in.

This method gave me enough cable to plug comfortably into a laptop on the passenger seat.

Are you sure your Engine Type is set to E Series - N55 or F Series - ALL? I got odd codes via JB4 but when using another app like Carista I was able to get codes for misfires.

You'll get a CEL for ********* ********* but I don't know how the JB4 will handle that since I have a stage 2 tune and I've turned off auto clearing because I wanna see what codes I may get. I still pass inspections, but once again I've got a different tune.

I've got JB4 with Bluetooth and I've got a tablet installed (old picture running Torque app). It's under User Settings to chose engine type, how you connect to your JB4, then all the tables for choosing boost by RPM, FOL, etc etc

Try running MAP1 - it's an additive map targeting 4 PSI over stock, so we've seen better results than running a target map (eg MAP2 or MAP3).

Post a screenshot of your user settings if you can - use an external image host site like imgur if you're having trouble resizing them to keep them under this forums attachment size limitations.

I've run an E30 mixture (5 gallons E85, the rest 92 octane Shell) and I'd say from my logs that overall my truck doesn't seem to like it...maybe it's my tune, mods, etc. My trims were maxed out, throttle closures and timing was all over the place. Usually N54 guys will run an E30 backend flash when running E30, but we're not as fortunate as they are due to our very limited production which means even more limited support.

I haven't seen this guys logs to see how the engine was running for daily E30 use, but he pulled a good time with E30 and JB4 only on a bone stock truck.

I asked terry what 2B1D code ment reading from the jb4 app n he said it could be a throttle response thing.. extremely sensitive cars I gues lol I'm use to my 2008 jeep srt8 lol ripped it to shreds everyday with not one prob.. dame I miss that truck

Read the codes using something else. I got throttle codes via JB4 yet Carista told me it was misfires, so I went colder plugs. I'm at work until 1am, so sarch for some of my threads here and on xbimmers and start reading.

Probably wouldn't hurt to do the vacuum line replacement if you haven't already.
Other than the limp mode gremlin, which was fixed with the vacuum line mod, I haven't seen any of the same codes as James, but we both suspect a culpret could be the different fuels we have access to.

I always use 98RON (93AKI) as a minimum, and blend in 107RON E85 up to E30 mix every third or fourth tank.

Does Carista tell you what cyl is having the misfires? it could be a coil going bad, I am doing as much research as I can before I order the jb4 for my x5m and from having a jb4 on my 335i for many years when getting a misfire code on a certain cyl I would just move the coil to a different cyl and see if the misfire followed it.
As for throttle errors on my 335 its never been the throttle body or bad o2's, it was either the power wire for the jb4 wasn't making a solid connection or there was a 30amp fuse i would replace and it would make the errors go way after resetting the throttle adaptions. Fuse issue has happened twice in the 10years Ive owned the 335.

Carista did give me specific cylinders, yes. Ultimately I knew I needed to go one step colder plug due to having a tune as is, but I went two steps since having added JB4 and then knowing I'd be adding meth as well. I haven't had a misfire code since.

It's only when I push max boost limits is when I get throttle body and/or timing issues. I'll double check my connections because very randomly the steering wheel controls don't like to react, yet if I connect via Bluetooth, they'll start working again or even vice versa...It's quite annoying.

Terry,

I'm a bit confused by the 2010 X5M options for purchase on the BMS website: The JB4 item is shown as "S63 2010-2013 X5M/X6M Full JB4 System", so that looks fine. But the JB4 Boost Control Module (BCM) shows "2011-2013 X5M..." in the options menu.

Does this mean the BCM is not available for the 2010 X5M?

Thanks!
Russ

That's a typo as I've got a 1/2010 build and I'm running the BCM.
