Newer N54 from Z4 for an older 2008 E60?

Just like the title says, it looks like the n54 was produced up until 2016- can those engines be easily swapped into older e60's or e90's?

Also have you gotten a knock event that caused a cel and low boost mode? Does the cel go off immediately during the pull or like 30 seconds after?
