Dyno data

Hi,

What are the standard conditions used to report and calculate BMS whp output? Do you use the SAE J1349 or MSA or other standard conditions?

Thank you.

Hi,

A recent run is attached. I evaluate map performance based on the WOT slope of the rpm climb over time (R/T). After about 600 WOTs it becomes clear which variables matter. IAT is most...

I am basing on it some of Terry’s comments. See page 8. Not sure how to copy it here.

The argument appears to be improved timing. That makes sense to me.

When I optimized map 6 flat, timing...

Timing vs boost

I keep reading comments that imply boost is the ultimate. Why? To me, there is a balance between boost and timing, that results in optimal performance. For my 340i that is Map6-4.5 psi flat. :shrug

MHD vs JB4

Hi,

I currently run Map6 with 4.5 psi flat. It appears to be the optimum setting for my use. If I install the MHD backflash and run the same Map6-4.5 flat setting, what improvements can I expect?...

MHD highway mileage

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience yet on the effect of MHD on highway mileage.
My concern is with the fueling remapping, mileage may be of less concern.

Thanks.

Try 5.5 flat. It works very well for me. Best in timing and and best in acceleration. I use gain at 10, fol 65, fua 0. Could stand some smoothness tweaking. Comparing maps 2,3, 5 6-4.5, 6-5, the...

I have not gone to higher series versions of firmware because I do not want to run into other new issues. :rolleyes2

Methanol Injection effect on IAT

If methanol is injected after the IAT sensor, how does the ECU know what map or adjustments to make to accommodate the cooler IAT for timing, boost safety limits and AFR. A cooler gas...

I suggest trying Map6 with a flat boost in the 4.5 to 5.5 range. For me 4.5 is best. This gives me maximum average timing advance and maximum acceleration for 2000 to 6000 rpm wot, and the least...

Boostane uses manganese as an additive. It is a metal, will not burn, and will deposit on your valves, plugs, oxygen sensors and catalyst. It works but be careful.

Hi,

You should post WOT runs in third gear from 2000 to 6000 rpm. Do at least 4 of them to allow auto adjust features to settle out.

I like running Map6 at 5 psi flat with gain of 9.
