Its the same 8HP76X, but the bellhousing is different, so the part number is too. The B58/S58 have their timing components at the back of the engine, so their belllhousings are unique.

Don’t worry about the transmission. It’s the same 8HP76 that’s used in the M5. Though it’s only rated for 760nm (560ft/lbs), it’s been shown to hold upwards of 1000ft/lbs without issue.

He’ll have to do that. I don’t have the 550 anymore. I’m stuck in B58 land now, with 140 less hp. :( But hey, at least it gets double the fuel economy.

The cars are slower. A bunch of us found that Map 2 was slower than Map 1, even with 93 based E30. Its not enough octane, timing suffers badly.

That should be fine. I ran Map 2 with just drop ins and E30. It was slower than Map 1, but it ran okay. High boost, low timing. Not ideal, but okay.

All of our pump gas is E10 unless it specifically says Ethanol Free. Our "E85" generally is closer to E50-E60 than E85 also. You gotta check it every time, because its not regulated.

I would probably run a couple of logs on 2 or 3 before going to 4. 4 may be the best, but I personally feel its safer to start lower and work up than just jumping in with both feet.

Yes, I’m sure, because Terry and Steve generally don’t even look at the kind of “logs” you’re providing. They look at the CSV logs from the JB4.

Definitely an octane issue. It’s cutting timing to prevent knock. People seem to forget, more boost isn’t always a good thing. You need a balance between boost and timing for the best performance....
