I just put the new dry gasket back in. Make sure you torque the bolts in the right sequence and correct spec. They are one time aluminum bolts so I would NOT reuse the old ones.

Personally, I think a quart every 1500 miles is excessive. According to BMW it's in the range. I just switched to 5-40W from 0-40W. We'll see if that helps.
