We'll use this thread for our upcoming B9 Audi S4 SENT JB4 BETA updates, map guides, firmware, and discussion! Install Guide here: http://www.n54tech.com/flash_files/audi_s4_install.pdf Optional map changing, datalogging and updates are done using the BMS data cable or JB4 Mobile REV3 bluetooth kit. JB4 Mobile Smart Phone wireless connection directions Click here BMS data cable hard wired directions and software Click here Map guide as of v4 firmware: Map0: Stock tuning, disable JB4 Map1: 2psi peak over stock (default) Map2: 3psi peak over stock Map3: 4psi peak over stock Map4: 6psi peak over stock, E85 mixture, race gas, or octane booster suggested Map5: 6.5psi peak over stock, E85 mixture, race gas, or octane booster suggested Map6: Custom tuning map, can be used as additive by setting RPM1500 less than 5psi, or absolute by setting it greater than 5psi. Map7: Water/Meth (WMI) Progressive Mapping Map8: Low Boost/VALET map. Runs 30% less boost than stock. Firmware: Download using the new internal firmware database within JB4 Mobile or externally by clicking this link. JB4_AUDI_S4_4_T4: 1) Revised maps per above. Changed map4 to performance map, adjusted map5 target, changed map7 to WMI map, changed map8 to VALET/low boost map. 2) Logical revision to correct 233F false alarm fault code some got when letting off the gas. 3) Tuning change to improve boost performance on tip in. 4) Added support for BCM (boost control module) 5) Added support for map6 to be used as an absolute target map in conjunction with the BCM, we expect this will be useful for those running larger turbos. When using map6 the boost value entered under "RPM1500" determines the profile. A value of 5psi or less makes map6 an "additive" map meaning the value is added to the stock boost level. A value of map5 or more makes map6 an "absolute" meaning the JB4 targets that specific boost value. The logic does not yet allow for targeting of less than factory boost levels so if you enter an absolute target below the stock target you'll receive the stock target. JB4_SENT_AUDI_S4_2: 1) Adjusted warm up temperature safety to avoid bug with it kicking in when car is heated up. 2) Added cyl6 knock correction logging. Adjusted cyl 2-6 logging parameters so they show much higher values, to make boost/octane evaluations easier. 3) Created a firmware split so "S4" firmware will be used for all six cylinder models, and "RS3" firmware for all five cylinder models. AUDI_JB4_SENT_T7: 1) Adjustments for WMI integration. 2) Potential fix for bug that lights off every code in dash when letting off gas suddenly on higher boost maps. AUDI_JB4_SENT_T6: 1) Added map5 which is 6psi peak over stock, for race gas and E85 mixture experimentation 2) Added knock monitoring in cyl5. Will add cyl6 shortly. 3) Added flash boost target logging 4) Changes to avoid triggering 9023 manifold pressure too low fault when letting off the gas on higher boost maps BCM Default Settings: Attachment 83103 Attachment 83102 How to update firmware: For firmware updates if having issues we suggest you turn off WiFi, change upload timeout to 25, and set your phone next to JB4 box under the hood. Download firmware using the new JB4 Mobile firmware database or externally by clicking this link. |
Be interesting to see what this kind of turbo can do.

Great looking car with lots of potential!
|
Nice car,
i think it will be like the B5 s4 in tuning potential :burnrubber: baseline number? |
Nice finally first dibs if you need any beta testers
Cant wait |
Do the new SENT sensors make manipulation a lot more difficult?

subscribed to see what awesomeness comes out of this!

And you can't develop for a 911? For @#$ks sake Terry...

Bigger market than you think but we'll see what happens. |
Woah, that is a really nice looking car! Do you have any front pics as well, please? :D
|
Terry any progress you can share?

Making good progress... Have SENT mostly working, and CANbus mostly active.
Also testing out a new really affordable GPS performance meter called dragy we'll be distributing soon. Results of a stock run I took earlier today on 91 octane... Slower than expected. I'll try again when its cooler out with a harder launch. |
Terry thanks for the update, what i noticed during my first runs is you need to launch it very hard with LC otherwise the car will not get out of the gates very well.
Best i could do stock is 12.6 at a 109 80 DA 1400. |
How do you engage LC?
|
its not a proper LC but you need to be in Dynamic Traction Control off hold the brake firmly apply gas, RPM goes up to 4K i believe. Its like brake boosting but it does launch the car much harder was able to get 1.69 60ft.
|
Oh, yes I've tried that. Got RPM up to like 3000rpm... Was a bit quicker with a 1.9 60'. Will try again when its cooler out and post the results.
Almost ready to get started on tuning it! So I'll need a good baseline for that. |

Updated times stock on 91 octane, brake boosting it harder.
|
Just a short update.
Came back from the strip and best time with a tuning box currently available on the market was 12.2 on various settings vs. 12.6 stock similar weather conditions same fuel. I thought i try something else on the market available to shorten the time for terrys product. Still waiting inpatient for the JB5 :). I will not disclose the name of the tune here in the forum for obvious reasons. Time slip and video will be posted this afternoon. |
Glad to hear there is at least some tuning potential for them! How did MPH change? We've got logging up and running and the car is running quite a bit of boost from the factory. More than I expected.
Product we're developing for the S4 will be called JB4. It's a new JB4 board that also has SENT capability along with CANbus and the rest of everything you've come to love about the JB4 over the years. |

It went from 107 to 111 best time was with the 109 trap
|

Will this also be compatible with the B9 SQ5? Same motor as the S4 so assume it will be but figured i'd ask to be sure... picking one up in the next few months. |
Most likely yes but check with George on that.
