Ryan's e60 LCI 535i build thread

MUST USE GOOGLE CHROME TO SEE PICS

HI all,

My name is Ryan and two months ago I purchased a bone stock, dealer maintained, 08 535i. The car has 150k miles and known wastegate rattle. The car runs well for what I am familiar with so far. I am still learning and plan to do various modifications based on personal preference and function. I usually do not post DIY's or build threads, but with not a lot of stuff out there for the 5 series guys I really want to help. Especially for the help I have already been given. Please feel free to ask questions and comment, but I have to warn you I am very busy and do not participate online everyday. I am going to try to do a series of "video DIY's" and post them here for reference. I do not really have the time to do write ups, plus videos might be easier to understand. I hope I can follow through with this and help bring more information to the 5 series community.

Now onto the build. Sunday I will be starting the process of:

-Replacing bad oem turbos with VTT oem replacements
-Boost monkey charge pipe (no leaks, works great)
-TAIL Q w/ 10psi spring (need to tap intake manifold for 7/32 vacuum)
-Custom silicone intake relocation from MPP (they do not know I'm about to hack up their 3 series products to fit the 5 yet)
-Relocate canisters(done, but need to be cleaned up. Possibly switch to one canister)
-Relocate cooling expansion tank
-Install Godspeed Intercooler for e90
-Relocate A/C suction line to cold side
-Various hose replacements
-Amazon (BMS) Catch Can

This is what I am going to be starting no later than Sunday. There may be additional projects that take place once I start getting into things. A few may include:

-DSC relocated to the M5 location
-VRSF *********
-Walnut blasting (will also tap numerous vacuum ports at this time.)
-black out headlights
-plasti-dip wheels, grill, and interior trim
-replica Mtech body kit (suggestions???)
-Find Solution for leaking sway bar

As soon as I know how to post pictures I will share some of this gem I found....

There we go.... now just waiting for pictures to upload to photo bucket and I can get this thread started.

Stayed tuned......this project is going live as soon as I finish my 8 page research paper on why fracking is bad for our environment. Can't wait till that is over so I can go remove the emissions from my car. Hahaha

You'll spend a lot of time messing around with Photobucket - that site is so loaded with adware and bloat that each time I log in my Mac heats up and slows to a crawl.

I still use Bot-oPhucket, but only for pix I want on forums. There are probably better places out there that suck less.

Good luck with the build, the dsc mod is a great choice, I may end up doing the same, same with the m5 diff swap. I just need to know 100% if you can use the 335 Dee pipes, along with e90 mids...

I think you need 535i specific down pipes. Not too sure yet, have not evolved to exhaust yet.

Looks nice, but are you sure heater hose will stand up to vacuum?

Thank you!

99% sure. I will be replacing everything with vibrant hoses when I replace the turbos. This is just the initial mock up. I'm sure the vibrant hoses will withstand better pressures.

I also have my bumper off and looking at the space were the dcs pump and the coolant overflow is. Removing the pump is going to be a massive amount of work with the motor in there, and scoping the parts used will be a man hunt, but it's a nice clean mod when done. If the tank was relocated, it looks like a ram air inlet could be fabbed using a m5 duct, that would be a nice mod. I'm planning my n54 swap and reading all the e60 mods that guys are doing. Evan has a great write up on his car, one of the cleanest, and hope to see how yours come out. Good luck with her!

I am working on a way to relocate the dsc without hacking up your oem hardlines. I have been studying Evan's thread ever since I found it. I just fit the rear intake on last night before I called it quits..... hopefully she will be running today soon can start the turbo swap. I also plan on using some of the m5 ducting for my intake.
