But replace with same part or is there a new updated part?
Anyway did a few full throttle runs with the Denso's an they seem to work well. Will get the car on the dyno soon to confirm no issues. |
Same parts.
Ah lame, I hope Kia comes out with some updated coils at some point. :)
So far mine is running good with stock plug gapped to .025.
Any misfire with those spark plugs on higher boose level?
No issues yet on the Densos.
On which map?
At the highest boost levels we've tried with the car. Around 18-19psi.
Nice. What gap did you set it too. I can seem to get my car to hit 18-19psi. Its all stock beside a Borla catback.
The gapping was a headache. I wanted to set it to 0.020 but my gapping tool is 12mm instead of 14mm, so I had to set them by hand. And the electrode is so thick I had to put them in a socket and use a hammer it to close the gap. lol. Anyway they wound up at .022". I ordered in a 14mm gapping tool and will make a video later for guys who have not gapped these plugs before so they don't screw it up.

Did you run into the P0049 code its the turbo turbine overspeed.

Making good progress on JB4 Stinger fuel control. One of the JB4's unique abilities allows it to tap in to the o2 sensors and directly alter the air/fuel ratio. The factory tuning is so rich at full throttle we're hoping leaning it out a bit will result in more power. Especially on E85 mixtures. We'll find out soon. :)
The removable posi-taps are on the sensor side of the harness and virtually undetectable once removed as it's under the factory sleeving I've pulled back to attach them. Takes around 20 seconds to attach but connections like this would always remain optional for those looking to really push things performance wise. :drinking: |
Nice. Looking good. Looking forward to the update.

Did a quick prelim map 1 run on 91 octane with the new fuel control in place. AFR doesn't reflect the change but it's around 1pt leaner than shown, currently. Traps are great for just 2.5psi over stock so we're definitely barking up the right tree here. :burnrubber:
Are you getting P0049 turbine overspeed?
Nope, but that isn't the sort of thing you'd expect on map1 or map2 levels. That's a higher boost issue we'll have to dive in to.
Ok

Had to get a bit creative to attach the LM1 external wideband to our funky "tailpipes" for JB4 fuel control R&D testing today. Zip ties save the day again. :)
Will ODB AFR not reflect the changes? Do we need a seperate wideband to log the actual AFR for tuning purposes to take advantage of fuel control?

OK great. Will this also integrate with the meth controls, to back off fuel when meth is flowing? It it targets a particular AFR and adjusts fuel down to meet the target since meth will cause the AFR to go richer?
Once the JB4 can dynamically set the AFR target on the fly, it opens up a whole new world of tuning an integration options for us. Just another function the JB4 offers that no other Stinger piggyback can. :)

So, if the meth is not connected to the JB4, and the meth starts working. The JB4 will notice the car is going richer and will compensate to achieve a certain target AFR? |
Little teaser from today's warm weather dyno testing. :)
Damn! Nearly 500 wtq! Is this JB4 alone? any other mods on the car?
