e85 bluetooth content analyzers and installation kits!

What you see here is my ethanol content analyzer (ECA) solution. This is 100% compatible with the Fuel-it brand sensor installation kits at a fraction of the cost.

This will allow you to read the data stream from a standard continental flex fuel sensor and view the data in several different ways.

All ECA's feature interlocking connectors, a new 5 volt power supply, are prewired for upgradeability (Bluetooth and the digital display can be added after purchase) and feature upgradeable firmware via USB.

Packages are:

Package A - Standard ECA; $80.00 shipped - my analyzer with a 0-5 volt output lead for use with JB4 (or any other display / ECU that uses a 0-5v input). This will display your ethanol content over pin 15 of the JB4 harness (typically used for meth flow). You can then view your ethanol content via gauge high jacking, over the JB4 mobile app, and it will be logged as well. Includes a full 8 foot 3-wire harness, using OEM style GT150 female connector for the continental sensor (completely weather sealed), loomed in factory style protection, with a interlocking connector on the ECA end. Also includes 5 zip ties to secure the harness.

Package B - Bluetooth enabled ECA; $105.00 shipped - the same analyzer and harness as above, plus the addition of a Bluetooth radio (Android compatible only). This will allow you to view your fuel ethanol content and fuel temperature on your Android smartphone or tablet via free smartphone / tablet app I've written (available at the Google Play store), or any of the above methods. V2 of the app should be available in early 2016, which will include blend calculators and a revised interface. Perfect for MDH, Cobb or JB4 users using meth.

Add on A - digital LED display add on; $30.00 - Add a fully digital red stand alone LED readout. Can be added after the fact, and does not require JB4 or an Android device. This LED display is compatible with either of the above ECAs by simply plugging in the harness and placing it where you'd like. Shipping is free when ordered with package A or B, or $6.90 if ordered separately to the continental US. Perfect for MDH, Cobb or JB4 users using meth.

Add on B - Bluetooth module; $35.00 - For non-bluetooth analyzers shipped 12-10-15 and on. Add a bluetooth module to your non-bluetooth ECA, to upgrade to the bluetooth capability and functionality of Package B. Includes a clear heat shrink tubing and a zip tie to bundle to the ECA. Shipping is $6.90 to the continental US. Perfect for MDH, Cobb or JB4 users using meth.

PM me if you'd like to order or for international shipping rates, and I'll provide paypal info for payment.

Pretty impressive stuff. Good work.

Will the sensors only be able to read the ethanol context when the car is on?

The sensor is directly powered by the analyzer, so that would depend on how you hook up the USB power supply for the analyzer. I have it powered off the DME relay in the DME box, so it shuts off ~10-15 seconds after you turn off the ignition.

If you connected it constant 12v, it would continuously read the sensor and broadcast the content.

Bump. This is awesome, gotta love the competition stepping out of bounds and giving us options!

Great Job!! I want! I've been Begging Fuel-it to take my money for like 6 months, I even ordered myself an arduino and lcd to program and install.. I was wondering when someone was going to grab the bull by the horns! Strong work!! PM Sent..

str8shot 07-25-2015 08:23 AM

Update - I'll be adding two additional leads that can be used for future use (JB4 integration, 0-5v out, etc). They'll be activated via updated code through the USB port.

You'd just need a windows PC to plug it into for a moment.

Nniftyfour 07-25-2015 09:41 AM

LMK as soon as you have the E90 kit ready to go.

feauto335xi 07-25-2015 01:39 PM

Love it!!!

great stuff man.

Anyone have any good options for 0-5v custom LCD or LED gauge readouts that could be mounted in the glove box or elsewhere?

str8shot 07-30-2015 08:25 AM

Edit - pricing updated in first post.

If this is something that garners a lot of interest, I'm sure I could come up with something for that as well...

One of these cheap $10 gauges would be great to just throw in the glove compartment.

That would work for displaying the raw voltage, but you'd have to do the math yourself. Pretty simple though, just multiply the value by 20 and that'd give you your ethanol percentage. :)

OK, I just looked at the gauge a little more.

It will do .xx precision under 10 volts, so what I could do is scale the ethanol content in .01 volts per 1 percent.

That would display .01 for 1%, .30 for 30%, .55 for 55%, etc. Great idea!

This could use one of the extra non-functional leads with a firmware upgrade. I'll get on this right away, seems like an excellent option!

OK, I've got everything hooked up except for a display (fuel line, ethanol sensor, harness, wiring), which I currently have a frequency meter I keep in my glove compartment where I power up the sensor & read the frequency across a pull-up resistor (which I have been doing for about a year now).

What parts do I need from you to make this bluetooth or read into the JB4?

You just need the analyzer and harness. I'm going to be revising pricing soon, so you may want to wait a day or two.

Pricing has been updated - you'd just need an ECA. I could provide a few extra bullet connectors to connect to your harness.

Great work will definitely hit you u when I get back from vacation

str8shot 09-03-2015 06:25 AM

Added a screen shot of the Android app.

It's a work in progress, but reads ethanol and temp at the moment - everything you need.

str8shot 09-25-2015 06:27 AM

Sold a kit with the digital meter.

Came out nicely and will look good in the glove box.

The sun was shining directly on the gauge and washed it out a little- it's very bright and crisp when in the shade.
